Poured a hazy yellow/orange color with big rocky head, smelled clovey and of some ctruis to it.Taste was pretty fresh but I would liked some more spiciness to it,just lacked a little something.I was expecting a little more outta this but wasnt bad by any means.

Appearance – This is a deep orange in color with a bottle-conditioned haziness and a huge, clumpy, white foamy head. There’s a lot of carbonation going on in this glass, too, making this one a real Hefe.

Smell – The lovely German yeast is right on for the style. I can pick up a light banana and maybe a hint of cherries. The deep, rich yeast though is what does it for me.

Taste – Oh, this is tasty. The yeast steps back a bit at the tongue and the bananas really pick things up. The finish is very soft and fruity.

Mouthfeel – This one is light to medium-bodied with a good, fluffy, Hefe mouthfeel.

Drinkability – The creamy nature of this Weizen helps this one go down like silk. It’s a terrific summer time bier or, as in my case tonight, a good snack when dinner’s still an hour or so away.

Comments – There’s not a lot of variance in my rating of this bottled Weizen as opposed to the on-tap version that I had at the Hofbräuhaus in Las Vegas, but it is far preferable, IMO.

Presentation: It was poured from a green 11.2oz bottle into a Weizen glass. The bottle has no freshness date or any info other than the style.

Appearance: There is a thick hazy yeast cloud inside of a yellow orange body with light yellow highlights at the edges. Some yeast sediment settles to the bottom of the glass as well. The head on top builds up tall and full on the pour before quickly settling down to a thin cap of foam. It is a soft plain white in color and it hangs on well making lots of spotty slick lacing on the sides of the glass.

Smell: The aroma has a light fruity yeast character with a light touch of spice and hops.

Taste/Palate: The flavor has a solid wheaty and yeasty, medium to full bodied taste with delicate fruit and bubble gum notes. It finishes with dry dusty yeast and spicy mellow hops. The texture is smooth and almost creamy, but not slick with lots of soft carbonation.

Notes: I was very impressed with the outstanding balance, mouth feel and dryer less fruity (sweet/slick) yeast flavor on this Hefeweizen.

Presentation: 12 oz green bottle with a no freshness date.

Appearance: Cloudy pale golden beige colour with a trademark wheat beer tiny bubbled lace.

Smell: Fresh wheat malt in the nose, hints of lemon and powdery yeast as well.

Taste: So crisp and smooth, there is lots of fresh fermented wheat flavour that it creates bit of a twang. Quite malty with a spicy phenolic and faintly bitter hop to balance. A powdery yeast tries to dry the palate. A touch fruity with pear in the back and vague banana in the front with some alcoholic esters wavering in the finish.

Notes: Perfectly balanced for the style and extremely drinkable, its right up there in greatness with the rest of the quality German wheat beers.

Hofbräu Münchner Kindl Weizen, vom Faß beim Hahndorf Inn, Südaustralien.

App: Amber, only partially cloudy, very bubbly. Served with a lemon in a HB glass. Lemon killed the head but it retained a bit after I took it out and disturbed it a bit.

Smell: Refreshing weizen grassy hayy hops smell. phenolic with banana esters. Not exactly citric but refreshing acidic aroma.

Taste: Strange chalky taste on the palate. Served very cold, difficult to discern other characters. Banana on back of tongue. Not massively complex, quite watery, but a little bitter. Onion, banana, limestone.

MF: Thin but pleasant effervescence. Average.

Drinkability: Bloating and watery. Drinkable, but not interesting for long enough. Needs to be followed by a dunkel lager/weizen or a bock/weizenbock.

Pleasant, above-average beer.

Maybe its because this came in a 44-ounce stein, or maybe it was because I was at the Vegas Hofbrauhaus, but I thought this was a really great hefe. Pours cloudy gold with a massive white head. Wheaty and sweet aroma. The taste is very light and clean. No stickiness. Wheaty, yeasty, and sweet. I recommend having one, or four.

Poured from a 11.2 oz green (WHY green?!) bottle into a matching Hofbräu München weizen glass. First time I've matched beer with the glass since Sam Adams.

Pours a staple hefe. Cloudy, golden, carbonated, with a three finger head that settles to a half finger. Good lacing. What's not to like?

Smells of cloves, yeast, malt, lemon. Typical hefe with some lemon. Yummy. No skunkiness from the green bottle.

Tastes like the aroma. Very balanced and refreshing. It does get some points off because the banana isn't too present, but it is still delicious. There is a bready malt, followed by a pronounced spiciness and clove, finished with a slight lemon and creamy yeast.

Typical hefe, but not as wet. Probably one of the driest I've had. Ends up being neutral, not too wet or dry. Tickling carb.

Like a good hefeweizen should be in the summer, you can practically chug the whole .5 L weizen glass. My favorite glass, and finally I've found the beer that's supposed to be in it. Although it doesn't replace my favorites, Weihenstephaner and Paulaner, the price does make this one pop up on my summer rotation.

A delightful vibrant, not lazy yellow, cloud and haze just like I like it. Smell, fragrant, break out the lemon zest yo! Taste, no hop quality like I was hoping for a blast of Saaz or something, but its alright, its still decent tasting for a hefe.

Mouthfeel, meh, doesn't develop. Beer goes downhill in the second half. Got me excited there for a bit. Usual mix of estery yeast, banana, clove. . . many of the things I try and avoid in a hefe, which is hard to do since they are hallmarks of the style.

12 oz. green bottle not available in the 15.9 oz. brown bottles that would have been preferred, but anyway here we go. Appearance: Cloudy golden tone with a nice billowing highly carbonated effervescent white head leaving behind specks of lace with each sip. Aroma: Starts out very skunky especially after cracking the bottle however, it becomes tamer after pouring in the settlement and letting it sit for a minute. More banana clove tones arise with the sharply sweet malt profile this one comes together, I thought it was a tradgedy but it's not bad at all topped off with a European hop dosage. Taste: Mellow but smooth rolling yeast tones of banana and cloves this has a nice citrusy flow to it as well with the sharp sweetness bringing a bit of a tart tone to the overall profile and balanced with herbal hops nice. Mouthfeel: Spritzy light to medium in body very nice summer brew. Drinkability: Tasty goes down and flavorful this one gets my vote as an authentic Bavarian style weizen.
