Golden hazy yellow-orange body with a thick retaining cap of head with lace. Only drinking the 11.2oz format, so it only fills a pint so high. 4.0

Firm-bodied banana and clove in the nose. Floral hops and slight yeast nuttiness. Nice graham cracker quality to the malt. 4.0

Banana/clove, slight bubblegum, kiss of hops with light bitterness, and some mustiness. A little pear juiciness. Primo yeast strain used. Fantastic. 4.5

Creamy smooth with some vigor in the carbonation. Easy-to-drink in a large quantity, and I wish I could... right now. 4.0

Whole lotta banana in this one, and it's great. Recommended, of course. 4.0

Nice original German Hefe, as soon as I saw the bottle I had to try it.

A: Excellent cloudy yellow/amber color. Very minimal head, dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing except for some bubbles around the edges and a few patches here and there.

S: Very aromatic. Grassy/grainy with alot of citrus and yeast and the banana esthers that are typical of a Hefe. Have a very small amount of clove and spice coming thru, I was expecting more here but its not disappointing with everything else going on. Very enjoyable.

T: Surprisingly enough, rather mild flavor however this was a bit colder then usual. Flavors became more distinct as it warmed. Mostly wheats and malts at first with the hints of citrus rind. Getting some yeasty flavor but its not overpowering the wheat and grain tones. Spice is there but just like on the nose, its very mild. Very well balanced all around.

M: Light carbonation, with a crisp and clean taste. Almost tastes lighter then other Hefe's, possibly due to the mild spicing. Lower ABV and the alcohol is barely noticeable here as well.

O: Overall I really enjoyed this beer. Wish it had a thicker head however everything else about the brew was very good and enjoyable. Nice spring or summer time beer.

Pours a murky dark yellow with a 1 inch foamy white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly slide into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of wheat, spices, and banana aromas. Taste is slightly sour with some wheat, spice, and banana flavors on the finish. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good hefeweizen but nothing really stands out with this one.

A - Orange pour, with a hearty white foam. Slight lacing.

S - Smells of citrus, and some spicyness if cloves.

T - Taste is crisp and refreshing. Very much a traditional German hefeweizen. Has a noticeable yeasty flavor.

M - Very well balanced. There is a nice contrast between the tartness of lemon and the earthy flavor of spice and fresh grain.

O - Been a while since I went back to this and was surprised at how good Hofbrau is at making a traditional German style. Always thought of them as too mass-produced. Don't overlook their offerings.

500ml bottle

a: pours a golden cloudy orange, puffy three finger head comes down to a half finger

s: a strong wheatiness, clove and pepper spices, some banana and yeastiness, but overall a bit light

t: strong wheat and malts, some spiciness from clove/pepper, not a ton of banana. good carbonation level gives it a nice crispness.

o: very nice, but i wished there was more of a banana aroma/taste to it. very refreshing.

Taste - A kind of tangier tasting hefeweizen to me, with more citrusy notes in it. Its otherwise a bit lighter in body, a much cleaner sort of unfiltered than I expected.

Overall - Pretty good. Definitely better in hotter weather, as I feel its more refreshing, less on cloves and bananas, and smoother on the finish.

Poured into my Weihenstephan weizen glass.

A - Very pale yellow gold with a light haziness. Very effervescent. Beautiful big white foamy head and sloppy lacing. Just like a hefe should look.

S - Typical hefe aromas of banana and coriander with some yeast and gum.

T - Follows the nose with some light grassy hops.

M - Medium to full body, moderate to high carbonation.

O - Solid German hefe.
