I visited 2 times once on a slow afternoon for lunch and 2nd on a busy night. It a nice place for a quiet lunch but at 7pm or later on a June weekday the place was mobbed with people. It can be hard to get a table, we were in the self service area.
For lunch I have Nurnberg wursts which where decent and reasonably nice.

Made it here for lunch before a DB departure. You feel the magic walking up to the building, with the big sign and welcoming entrance plus the massive Biergarten at the periphery. Inside is just as special, with huge rooms each with a theme. The main bar area is where I sat since I was alone. A lot of activity at the bar. Beer is a big deal here. A few draft options, one of which was Edelstoff from a wooden cask. That was delicious. Menu is extensive and offers all the German delicacies you could imagine. Entire experience was amazing!

Wow, possibly the best Biergarten in Munich. Magical place to be, buzzing even at 10pm on a weeknight in September during the pandemic. Obviously just a couple Augustine’s beers on offer, but absolutely delicious.

Spent a beautiful evening in the biergarten. This is the standard bearer in that regard. Bier was delicious, relaxing park-like setting, food and service were very good, too.

Sat outside in the garden on a warm day. Classic beer garden, lots of food options. Beer was excellent and staff was on top of things. Friendly to English speakers.

Came here on a "tour" and still enjoyed it. This is a classic beerhall (the massive garden was closed) and represents everything that one thinks a beerhall should be. We had a communal table - with one half "reserviert" - in the downstairs cellar, a huge vaulted brick ceiling overhead. The Augustiner helles is a crisp and clean lager, and one of Munich's faves. The food was a gigantic cheese plate layered with yummy cheese and great fresh bread. Loved it.

The keller has a huge outdoor and indoor area. Who cares! Go inside and look for the sign that points to the keller and go downstairs into the old lagering halls and get a stein of beer! The atmosphere is great and the ceilings are just so amazingly BRICK. I was in love as soon as I saw it. I can't wait to go back.
Selection isn't the best; 5 beers. Food was pretty expansive.

Visited the outside Biergarten while on business in Germany. I never drank Augustiner beer before but the locals who took me said this is the most popular beer in Munich. It was the summer, so we sat outside on a beautiful day and ordered liters of their Helles Lagers. Wow! Best lager I've ever had! The beer was so smooth and drinkable I finished the liter in a matter of minutes. There is nothing better than drinking great beer in a high energy outside venue where everybody is just enjoying life. I tried to get their Helles Lager in the US but they only sell Edellstaff and Maximater. Both are good beers but their fresh Helles is the best!

This place was "ok", this being said i got there late and it was cold so no one was there really. The beer is whatever, Augustiner is kind of weak compared to the other german beers. I would have enjoyed it more if the place was crowded. It was strange seeing a sea of empty benches and imagining the mayhem that would occur if those benches were full... I wanted that mayhem.... my parents went to the inside part and said it was the best place ever.... but I can only vouch for what i experienced

This ended up being my favorite place to drink in Munich during my trip. Location is nice, just enough out of the downtown to miss the worst of the masses. Very nice outdoor area that even features a projector for soccer games, can get quite crowded and rowdy during nice weather and big games. Didn't go to the indoor area as the weather was awesome. Standard Munich beer selection and standard Munich tourist prices. Standard beer garden self serve. Food was slightly better than the hofbrau and slightly cheaper.
My favorite of the beer gardens.

Some friends and I stopped in here after having spent a few days at the Oktoberfest. Ive had their brews in the US and knew they were close by to where we were staying. A small uphill walk, with trees overhanging it to the front door. This appeared to look like a traditional German restaurant. We were seated in the room to the left, where we found out was a huge bonus. It was wooden clad, sort of dim, with lots of tables packed tightly, almost looking like a hunting lodge. Before we even sat down we heard and saw what seemed to be a party going on. Accordians, singing, swaying, clapping. The whole room was into it. We recieved our litres promptly and soon joined in the festivities. There were people from all different countries, all there having the best time. The food was outstanding and had the home-made taste. Baskets of warm soft pretzels served with obatzda cheese spread and many litres of beer to follow. Their Marzen was crisp, and sweet and ever so easy to drink. We stayed for a couple of hours enjoying the great beer, delicious food, and amazing atmosphere. Ill never forget this stop.

stopped here during a work trip to germany last week and was very glad I did. very typical german brauhaus with good beer. the restaurant takes up almost an entire block since there is a hug outdoor area. sadly since it is winter nothing was happening outside but I can imagine what the summer and octoberfest must be like.
as you enter the brauhaus there are three smaller rooms in the front and a huge room in the back. we went to the large room in the back at about 5:30 with almost no one there and by 7:00 it was packed. beer was good although as expected there were only 3 or 4 beers and the food was fairly good as well.
overall i would definitely recommend it if you are in munich.

Headed here after visiting the very busy Braustuben, on the evening of 02/10/2010, in search of some urban paradise relaxation.
The main feature of this place is obviously the biergarten with round tables and seating aplenty underneath the chestnut trees.
There are 2 service areas, as you walk in toward the lefthand side, there are chickens and masses of edelstoff being dispensed and a larger self service area ahead on the other side of the biergarten next to the restuarant building. This area serves a lot more food and some other bottled beer offerings if memory serves. We made do with a huge pretzel which i think is the best i have ever had in Munchen! Shame they were not serving the Marzen from the wood, only the Edelstoff
Even in the dark of the evening underneath the spotlights in the cool October evening, it was till plenty busy with revellers but easy enough to find a free table. I can just imagine this place being the perfect spot on a Sunday afternoon, bringing some food and enjoying a mass!
Didnt look into the restaurant building so cant comment on that. Only prob i had, was the toilet was so far away, and after a few mass, its definitely an issue but it is a huge biergarten!
A wonderful experience in a true mecca to good beer, a must visit in Munchen, day or night!
