Appearance: The beer pours a cloudy golden head with a big three finger foamy head. It is quite sexy looking.
Smell: Apples, sour grapes (white wine?), and a woody aroma are quite prominent. A vinegar smell starts to take over as the beer warms.
Taste: This is one sour beer. A sour tart bomb hits right away and is followed by a taste which reminds of cheap champagne. There is absolutely no hop bitterness and fruit flavors are heavily subdued. As with the smell, a vinegar taste becomes more prominent as the beer warms.
Mouth feel: It is medium bodied with a dry, smooth finish.
Overall: To be honest, this was my first experience with this style and I cannot say I am a fan; I do not handle the sourness well. Having said that, it was a nice change of pace and it does seem to possess all of the characteristics associated with the style.
