This pours a slightly hazy golden color with a nice white head and little comet-like sediment pieces floating about with carbonation pouring off of them. Good lacing.
The aroma is very much like a barn. It definately has that horse hair smell, very interesting.
The flavor is sour with the aroma seeming to work its way into the flavor. Sort of an acquired flavor and I think I am starting to like the guezes.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
The drinkability is o.k. but not great because it is such an overwhelming flavor. It is great in small doses.

Appearance This one poured a delicate but thick orange in color that almost seem to glow. The head was pure white, about half an inch high in my Chimay glass, and showed great retention.
Smell This one is very sour at the nose. The malt base is barely perceptible. The farmhouse notes, which I value greatly in the style, are very reserved as well.
Taste The balance of this Gueze at the taste is the same as it is at the smell. It has a natural lemony sourness, a very light yeast base, and just a touch of da funk.
Mouthfeel I really enjoyed the fluffy mouthfeel of this medium-bodied Gueze although the emphasis on sourness puckered the lips.
Drinkability This was a good offering from Boon although a bit unbalanced for my tastes.

355 ml bottle, oddly without any date on the bottle or cork, purchased at Star Liquor.
Considerably milder and less offensive than most Geuze. Lots of bubbles. More so than is typical. Typical feet and battery acid smell and taste only lighter. Lots of rotten lemons. I like it a lot but it is just way more mellow than most. Lots of yeast creates a particulate feel. Light, dirty yellow body. Spritzy. Very clean. All the elements are there. They are just smaller than normal. This would be a good starting geuze.

Boon Geuze, ahh.... the Boone's Farm of gueuze, right? Just kidding. Picked up at Discount Drinks for about six dollars. It pours a golden color with some light amber hints - nearly translucent, but it end up being basically opaque. Volatile and foamy with an eggshell color head that lasts for days and leaves a small touch of lacing on the glass.
Up front, the aroma is pretty tart and definitely gets the saliva glands pumping right away. Tart green apples, white grapes, and a moderate amount of funk in the form of musty cork, wet wood, and a damp cellar. I can't decide from the aroma whether this one will be more funky or more tart, but my money is on the funk side..
The flavor profile begins with an initial burst of tart apples that's met immediately with a mild, astringent bitterness that peaks during the height of the carbonation snap to provide a nice shock to the senses, both taste and smell. Lots of dry funk enters in the middle; cork, must, old cellar, very dry with some funky wood in the finish that couples with a fading, dying tartness. Wood, funk, and spent apples are left on the palate. Light bodied, effervescent with lots of carbonation.
Definitely a nice gueuze considering the availability. Don't expect the quality and taste of Cantillon, Drie Fonteinen, or even Russian River, but this is certainly a decent gueuze given the fact that it's readily available at your local beer store for 6-7$. Better than Lindenman's Cuvee Rene in my opinion. A good "beginner" gueuze to get your friends into funky beers.

Felt like I was missing out on something good...
so my action was tying a lambic style beer. Geuze Boon a Geuze style mix of new and old Lambic brews. Two years aged in oak vats.
A- Pours a beautiful glowing hazed orange with massive fizzy off white head that lurks around for the duration of the beer. Excellent lacing holds on to the glass with all its might.
S- Fresh citrus fruits backed by a mild tart twang that teases the nose. Vines and old grass come to mind... weird.
T-M- Wow... very unique tarty bite upfront with heavy tangy aftertaste. Bitter un-ripe grapefruit and other citrus fruits start with a wild yeasty twang at the end. Very dry finish with the right amount of bitterness leaving the tongue wanting more.
D- Execellent start to my Lambic style tests.
Will get more of this tasty beer for later and cellering.

Presentation: It was poured from a green corked and caged 335ml bottle into a tulip glass. There is a best before date of 25-04-2027 on the bottle.
Appearance: The body has a hazy golden orange color with lots of beautiful Champaign like carbonation. On top there is a lively, big, fluffy head with a creamy off white color. It fades slowly but hangs on to a thin covering that make some slick lacing on the glass.
Smell: The aroma is interesting and complex. In the nose there is notes of apples, apple cider vinegar, light oak notes, wet wool and rose petals.
Taste/Mouth Feel: Its flavor is just as complex as the aroma. There is a little bit of astringent citrus with hard apple cider notes that give it a nice sharp sour character. Also there are some floral notes, dry hay and light woody oak notes and next to no hops. The finish has a sharp dry sour oak finish. The body is about medium with lively mouth feel and lively active carbonation.
Notes: Outstanding, a very good example of the style.

Presentation: Green 355 ml bottle with a high quality cork. Similar presentation to that of the Faro, less a gold label. Unfiltered, aged for 2 years and bottle conditioned. Freshness date on back label ... 08/26/16 !!!
Appearance: Highly carbonated, cloudy pale amber with a pure white head of tiny bubbles. Great head retention.
Smell: Aromas of tart cider with mouth watering sourness. Makes your saliva glands go wild.
Taste: Dry and light bodied, champagne-like with a sharp puckering sourness. Very vague maltiness and hops are not to be found. Hints of dry grain and lemon rind the finish.
Notes: Much dryer than the Faro making it the ideal accompaniment for a plate of soft cheese, or perhaps a special occasion in place of champagne. A lambic in the raw and perhaps for the more educated palate.
This was a really good gueuze, had it in Brussels at Beer Circus with a plate of cheese and bread.

Appearance: brownish gold in color, cloudy, minimal head, medium carbonation
Smell: apple and sour mix
Taste: apple, sour mix, and sugar
Mouthfeel: sweet and sour mix, high carbonation, medium body
Drinkability: A very good and tasty gueuze. I could have two or three. I like the dry apple taste.

Appearance: Poured a clear , golden amber with lots of carbonation and an inch of white head that stuck around.
Smell: the nose has some sparkling wine / champagne characteristics , faint green apple , faint grainy malt , hint of vinegar,, and some barny and yeasty funk.
Taste: I like it! My first gueze and some say a good entry level one. What an interesting taste on this spontaneously fermented , aged , blended beast. Starts with a slightly grainy/ malty and salty body , then the cidery and vinegar tastes coats the tongue with an almost warm feeling , mildly sour , some green apple in there , hint of wood , the nice must and barnish funk fill the finish with complexity. The finish is awsome , so lingering and taunting for another sip. Seems very well balanced.
Mouthfeel: light , but full with flavor.
Drinkability: I must say this is better than i expected as this is my first Geuze. I was a bit itimidated with the general description of the style found around the web and books. I dove in and was rewarded , im really lovin the flavor , and wishing it wasn't so pricey , but its definatly worth it for the care taken to make and age this treat. Recommended , and i can't wait to try some of the more intense versions of the style!

750ml cooked and caged bottle poured into a Duvel tulip.
Pours a hazy yellow with The nice stick and creamy white head that lingers the whole time. Nose is funky and fruity with horse blanket overtone.
Taste is well balanced with a light sour and very earthy slightly vegetal flavor. Mouthfeel is light and carbonated lightly for a smooth Mouthfeel.

Export label is spelled "Gueze" Boon...
Opaque mustard brown color, early big champagne head that settles down quickly. Sour aromas with some decided skunk-musk oil smells. Characteristic sour notes with elements of raisins and cinnamon. Not so astringent that you don't notice these secondary flavors. Dries to a white wine-like finish at the back. True enough to style, my rating hinges on the fact that its not as flamboyant in profile as Cantillon, nor as puckering.

This is an active beer, with lots of carbonation working all the while it sits. it's a hazy dark yellow-amber in color,and it develops a clean-looking, absolutely white head that remains very tight and soapy, rising to just over a finger. It retains its form very well and leaves good patchy lacing as the beer falls.
The aroma offers a lot of tartness, seemingly foregoing some of the funk for added sourness. It's not that there isn't some funk, which there is, giving off a smell of wet hay. There's a whiff of vinegar and some green grape skin in the slightly sweet aspect of the sourness. Nice and complex; just a bit more strength puts this over the top.
While malts are very light, this Gueze certainly isn't light on the tart and sour flavors. It's like an extreme version of a Kolsch (for comparison) in its dryness and the champagne-like vinous quality. A bit of grains runs underneath and there's some citrus zest (the sourness can only make one think of lemons) going into the finish.
The body is light, which works well for this one, with as constant a crispness as the carbonation would lead one to expect. It's also as dry as one might expect.

This beer comes in a champange styles bottle and pours a large white head. A long lasting head. The taste is very sour and tastes of sour apples. It smells of sour apples too. This was the first geuze i have tried. I was sceptical at first, i thought it was to sour. But it is definitely a beer style i will try again.

Review from notes. Served at the May beer dinner at The Pickled Pig Pub in Rehoboth DE.
A: The beer was a hazy orange/golden color with a small white head that dissipates rather quickly leaving behind no lace.
S: Definite barnyard funk/stink. There is a sourness and some green apple.
T: Very tart with a little bit of funk (not as much as the aroma). Nice green apple and apricot flavors.
M: Light to medium bodied. Definitely on the dry side and makes your mouth pucker.
O: A nice introductory geuze, not outstanding, but very good. It was a nice pairing with dessert.

Picked up at Jungle Jim's in Cincy. Gueuze seems to be the style that I'm currently most interested in, although I admit that Cantillon has set the bar a little high for comparisons. Appearance starts off well enough a nice cloud-like head atop a burnt orange body. Aroma is obviously tart with hints of cider and a slight funkiness. Taste is more of the same. However, the funkiness hides in the finish along with a slight metallic twang. I'll revist boon in the near future, Hopefully with a slightly older bottle.

I will say that this is my first review of a gueuze lambic, and I am not too terribly experienced with traditional lamics. Pours a very carbonated yellow/orange, clear, with good carbonation and nice fizzy white head that dissipates pretty quickly. Nose is of tart vinous flavors. Taste follows, nice and tart, but not a sour as some I have had recently (drie fonteinen in particular. Nice sour wine like notes and good carbonation. mouthfeel seems to be as good as most of the gueuze I have tried. drinkability is good considering the style. Good brew. I am just getting into this style and am more intrigued after this one. Looking forward to drinking the other one in the cellar in 2020 or so.

Golden with peach highlights under a mound of retained white froth.
Oaky nose with cider tartness evident, as well as the telltale brett characteristic. Not as sinus clearing as some gueuzes, but this will do.
The sour oak hues are as pronounced here as anything I've ever tried. Woody and dry and tart. Cider elements are present, but in the backseat. Turns more acidic later via lime and lemon juice. Mildly farmy, along with some stray iron colorings.
Yeast pour (although it is miniscule) turns this breadier. Sourdough, of course.
Rapid carbonation helps make this drinkable. Underneath, it seems heftier than most. But that is not really an issue.
Spendy little guy here, but worth it on occassion.
Screw that bubbly wine stuff.

Apparently this and the oude geuze are the same, as it is a combination of young and old lambic.Smell of yeast, and alcohol. This is dry, sparkling, with a retaining crowning head of gold onto apple juice colour. Taste has characteristics of apple juice and much better deeper in the meal, and not as interesting outiside of geuze geeks before. Not too dry nor sweet. This has been likened to champagne.

Poured into a Corsendonk tulip.
A - Orange and cloudy. White active foam. Carbonation is noticeable.
S - Smells like a combination of sour apples and lemon.
T - Tastes like a whiskey sour. More tart than sour, and a sweetness at the end.
M - Mild carbonation, and a tart flavor. Light bodied.
D - Style was tough for me to consider drinking more than one. I could, but the tartness is a bit much.
I plan on trying more of this style. This is a good segway into sour adn tart beers.
