375ml bottle, corked and caged
Served slightly chilled in a Cantillon snifter glass
Pours with a dark yellow slightly hazy body, amber hints with a touch of green in any around the edges also. Fizzy effervesant head forms, tight with good retention. Very little lacing
Smell, a cacophony of aromas just out of the glass. Dry funk along with lemon rinds and tonic water. Sharp also metallic citrus, barnyard funk, some noticable brett character also along with a slightly solvent light hint of alcohol.
Taste, bitter dry and lemony on the tongue, thick sour grapefruit, slight barnyard funk once again. Spritzy and efferversant, lingering alcoholic tinged citrus fruit with a lasting bitterness on the palette. A few noticable cider notes also, along with a light alcohol finish. A citric sourness dominates the finish
Another exceptional gueuze from Boon, this being the most complex that I've had from them so far. It is aggressive and harsh yet light and so drinkable, this is one i'll definatly chase down again
