Bottle pour courtesy of mrbubbler at Woodshop 7 held at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.

2008 vintage.

Pours a clear dark red with a foamy reddish-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour and tart with some cherry and berry aromas. Taste is much the same along with some woody flavors on the aftertaste. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer that is super tasty and easy to drink.

Inflatablechair corked this winner tonight... '08 version.. very cool!! Thanks a ton Sammy!!!!

Deep dark red/purple... Sam says, "Smoke on the watttahhh"... Nice pink head.. decent retention and lacing..

Nose is bright fruit with dank funk up front, but with aeration the fruit comes out full frontal.

Flavor begins quite sour and fruity.... the funk is more in the background on the palate... a bit oaky.. the cherries linger forever on the finish. acidic but never "acetic" .. no vinegar just a nice fruit punch and a good lingering Brett funk.

Surprising body and a bit lesser carbonation... Very well done.. but I think will be fantastic with 3-6 months in the cellar..

Very cool... I liked this one a lot... especially with warmth... later pours were very nice... let this brew breathe for a bit.

All 4's.... I HOPE/know I will get to try it again. :-)

Deep red in body with light cherry head that stays. Smells horsey, cherry with some floral notes. Tastes of very sour cherries, horse blanket, some booze, tangy, with funk. Heavy carbonation with a medium body. Tasty, extra sour, funked out. Real good in the hot weather for 4th of July celebratin'.

2008 Vintage

A: Dark red in color with a pink or almost light purple head. Head dissipated quickly, but not instantly. There was a fair amount of carbonation streaming from the bottom of the glass as well.

S: Sour cherries and definitely some funk

T: Again just a ton of tart sour cherries. It starts fairly sweet upfront and then gives way to some oaky flavors and a pretty tart finish. I don't taste any alcohol whatsoever, but there is a slight warming in the back of the throat to remind you that this beer comes in at 8% ABV.

M: Medium body. Some prickly carbonation but not to the point of being distracting.

O: I was really impressed with this one. Surprisingly drinkable at 8% ABV. I think it finds a great balance of tartness and sweetness. Definitely recommend trying if you're a fan of lambics.

Bottle (2008)

Thanks for the gift, NoSignsOfPain!

A very dark crimson with almost no clarity and not a lot of visible carbonation. This looks a bit heavy and substantial for the style, and lacks the typical bubbles. This leaves the glass seemingly clean on the way down.

Nice enough aroma, though nothing is leaping out of the glass. That being said, there's good amount of cherry, earth, and mild wood character.

The flavor is better than the aroma, with distinct cherry notes and strong sourness. There's mild oak and some earthy funk character. The alcohol is very well hidden, as this is somewhat high in alcohol for the style.

Medium to full bodied for the style, with low carbonation.

An incredibly drinkable and tasty kriek, though not at all in the upper echelon of the style.

Harvest 2008, Best Before: 04-11-2030. 375 ml C+C bottle into a tulip glass.

A - Dark red fruit juice body with a purple tint. A fluffy bright pink head forms but dissolves pretty quickly to some thin edging.

S - Intensely sour cherries, oaky tannins, and some spices. A bit of warming alcohol on the end.

T - Mouth puckering cherry juice with some light oak, vanilla and funky notes. Not very complex, but it has a great sour cherry presence even at 4 years old. Ends abruptly with the 8% abv well hidden. Mouth feel is lively yet thin.

O - A very solid kriek. Very sour and mouth puckering with some light oak and brett notes. A very good starter kriek that I actually prefer to the Drie Fonteinen Oude Kriek. Still stumped at why the mariage parfait series has such a high abv though.

375 ml bottle, best before date of 04/11/2030, poured into a tulip glass.

A- Pours a deep red color with a couple fingers of dark pink head, recedes to a collar and leaves little lacing.

S- Some tart cherry, sweet fruit/raspberry aroma, oak.

T- Moderately tart and lactic with some sour dark cherry flavor, which could stand to be a bit stronger, has some lingering fruity sweetness, some oak and tannins.

M- Medium-bodied, smooth feel, moderately dry finish.

O- A pretty nice kriek, it's a bit sweeter than I would like, it's very drinkable but I easily preferred the Geuze Mariage Parfait.

Served from 375mL bottle into tumbler glasses in Brussels.

Classic kriek appearance, smell, and taste. Strong cherry flavor and quite dry. The cherry taste even lingers in the aftertaste.

Wasn't sure that it would be a "true" kriek, as opposed to a sweet one, but it's quite nice. Would gladly drink again, and no worse than the standard krieks from other brewers/blenders. Only a Lou Pepe would be a significant step up.

A massive thanks goes out to caSSino for bringing this one out during cmrillo’s 40 Beers* @ 40 Birthday Bash! Served from bottle into a Mikkeller taster flute. Poured a ruby reb with a one finger pink head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, funk, cherry, wood, and sugar. The flavor was of sweet malt, funk, cherry, and sugar. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a good brew. This was a really well balanced brew. The funk aspect on this one really added a nice touch to everything else going on here. I went into this one expect to pick up on tart cherries, but they were more along the lines of sweet cherries. Definitely worth trying if you get the chance.

Poured from a 375 ml cork n caged bottle (2008 date on the neck) into a D'Achouffe tulip.

A- pours a vibrant turnip color with a huge 3" dark pink head. Small bubbles on the glass reside quickly.

S- big vinegar whiff, vegetables, dark cherries and raspberries, earthy aromas.

T- tart raspberries, vinegar, with some cherries and something else, maybe some tart rhubarb?

M- medium body, high carbonation. Light acidity and dryness.

O- very nice lambic with lots of sour and tartness. Just enough fruit notes to balance out the sourness and acidity.
