This beer isn't a thick or heavy one, showing appropriate body in its medium brown color with some deep bronze shining through in the light. The tan head is a rocky and creamy cap one finger in height. Lacing is deposited patchily and in good quantity.
Dark chocolate and caramel are on the nose with a bit of a smoky edge and a mild tartness making things interesting as dark fruits come in. A bit of earthiness is in here as well. The sourness takes an interesting turn at the very end as it mingles with the not-quite-burnt note.
There's a bit of spiciness, and the earth works at the end to really hold things together for just a good balance and depth.
The tartness tingles, and malts are displayed on the tongue primarily with caramel notes. A touch of earth and toast make up the bulk of the flavor, and spiciness, while muted, is present lightly. It doesn't maintain the full character of the smell, but it puts it together for the most part.
It's creamy and a bit crisp on the tongue, combining with the tartness that translates into a bit of a tingle. The body is a light medium.
