A friend brought a bunch of these to a party I hosted here recently and left a bunch of these in the fridge. Lucky me.
Served in a Stone IPA glass.
A: Poured a nice burnt, brown color with a bit of an amber hue and a 1/2 finger head to boot. Fairly translucent.
S: Belgian-y for sure, with some brown sugar and carmel. Smells good.
T: Definitely Abbey-made with a distinctive Belgian yeast strain up front and completely devoir of anything artificial. The dark, caramel, brown sugar component was rolled into the overall profile very nicely.
M: Champagne-like in its carbonation bill, not too sweet, but if the Belgian thing isn't your cup of tea, you may not dig this.
O: This was a pleasant surprise and I definitely prefer this to the Blond. Thumbs up!
