If I could rate it a 10 I would. This is my favorite beer of all and could find it until recently. The store I was buying at in NC told me the US importer quit bringing to the states. Would love to hear differently from someone.

This would be a biased review as I simple love Belgian style beer, but the nutty flavor of this brown Leffe if just amazing. Right amount of alcohol. Roasted flavor, not burnt. Nice beer for chatting and chilling out with friends. Not to be served too cold (think room temperature of a basement in Belgium) lol

Nothing special here. Bit of a stale taste and could use less carbonation. Flavors are not very pronounced. Drinkable but I won't be buying again.

look: 4 | smell: 2.75 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.25

Look: A dark brown that's nearly opaque, but reveals some deep copper highlights at its base when poured into a goblet. The off-white head does not last, but still leaves evenly spaced rings of lace.

Smell: Prune and a tinge of roasted malt are sullied by a splash of DMS. A faint fragrance, but not one I'd want to be stronger.

Taste: Roasted malt and white pepper create a flavor profile which resembles rye bread. The fruit on the nose is not in the flavor. A soft caramel finish feels out of place. It's not bad, but it still doesn't make a good mark.

Mouthfeel: Medium mouthfeel and medium-high carbonation creates a thick, yet crisp quality that would do well to serve a more complex brew.

Overall: More of a mediocre smoky stout than a strong dark Belgian. Far less appealing than Leffe Blonde, and nothing I'd try again.

Quite good. There are better options, but this tends to be cheaper than them.

A really solid Belgian Ale.

Look: Pours a dark brown, but still translucent. Gets a massive head on it if you're not careful!

Smell: A moderate scent of spice and malt.

Taste: Lightly sweet at first, followed by malt and spice, with an ever so slight aftertaste of hops.

Feel: Moderately carbonated, not too thick, not too thin. Goes down pretty smooth.

Overall: A fine Belgian Ale, imo. Nothing spectacular, but still very pleasant.

A winner in my book. Loved the transition from sweet to peppery slightly bitter finish with no dissonant notes in between! Nice color, great head and lacing + carbonation. Will be interested in trying others from this brewer + revisiting this one as well.

I'll rate it slightly higher than the original, but to me it didn't taste a whole lot different from the Blonde and I'm not a huge fan of it.

While Leffe is not of one of my favorite belgians, this brown is great.

A Clear cola brown, with bright, thick tan lasting head and loads of lace. Highly carbonated. Looks like an amber bock.

S: Belgian sweetness, tartness, yeast, and spice mix. More than others offers a caramel and toasty malt aroma.

T: Follows smell with more caramel malt, and toasted notes which I like, so that it's not so bubble gum. Fuller, creamier, and rounder that the blonde.

F: Tingly finish. With toasted caramel, but enough bitter balance. Not cloying, not overly fruity.

O: Try it if you can find it, wish it was the standard that is mostly available in USA.

Tasted in Belgium so results may differ in USA.

lovely refreshing beer. Similar to Leffe blonde but more of a crisp and earthy taste rather than smooth and sweet. The colour is like cola and the head stays for a while.

This brew pours a brown/black color but shows wine red highlights when held up to the light. It is 50% opaque and there is strong carbonation that does not diminish as you drink it. Pours with a 2.5 finger head which lasts with both a collar and strong lacing.

The smell is earthy and musty, dank and oak like. Lots of sweet malt and some roasted malt.

The taste mostly follows the nose with sweet and roasted malts leading the charge. This is followed by a musty, earthy taste then what tastes like wheat and yeast finishing off with enough hops to prevent it from being too sweet. The finish is very smooth; there is no aftertaste at all.

Overall this is one sweet, smooth drinking beer. I believe you could call it "sessionable".

Pours a lovely dark brown with ruby highlights and a tan, long-lasting head that leaves sheets of lace.
Nice aroma full of caramel, fruit and spice.
Great tasting beer. Plenty of delicious malt flavors -- toffee, caramel, cracker as well as a slight tart note beneath and a very nice, bittering finish. A little bit of peppery spice in ther as well.
Medium mouthfeel with nice carbonation.
Overall, a really good beer.

Poured from a 33cl bottle into a pint glass.
Aroma- A great smell of malt with maybe some spice tossed in.
Appearance. Pours dark brown with an off-white colored head.
Taste- Has a great sweet malt flavor that builds with each sip.
Palate- this is a full bodied beer with moderate carbonation.
Overall- An outstanding beer, I would drink this again and again.

The best qualities of this brew that stand out are the mouthfeel and the look.
The look is deep caramel but not cloudy. I love the mouthfeel for this style, it is crisp not overcarbonated and fairly smooth. However I thought it was a tad sweet, I was expecting some sweetness from the caramel malts, but the balance between the bitter and sweet was rough. At first sip sweet hickory was blasted onto the middle of my palate, followed with a bitter chocolate towards the back of the palate. Overall a good brew, not one that I would buy again.

While on business travel in Luxembourg, the Leffe Brown was a welcome companion. It's nutty, full flavor, comfortable brown invitation, and smooth full taste made dinners something to remember. All beer experiences are colored by the when and where we drink them. This was a perfect storm of circumstance and beer. Delicious!
