This one was a must review for me after its victory in the Battle of Belgium tournament at work. It took down some big names.Poured into New Belgium snifter with three fingers of whipped lacing that lined the glass. Color is that of molasses. Really looks more like an english pub ale than a Belgian but darker.

Nose is full of banana nut muffin, gingerbread, baking spices, and a little bit of cookie batter. There's some trail mix fruit as well.

Tastes like a winter classic. Gingerbread, nutmeg, cinnamon and apricot.

I intially thought I tasted some root beer initially, but I really feel like it has some hazlenut coffee on the finish.

Beer really fits its billing. Something I would apreciate most during the winter because of its feel. The sugar in Belgian beers is always so unique and this is no exception. Not a huge body and the alcohol doesn't scare. This beer is a great gateway into curiosity and interest in Belgian beers.

Appearance: It has a nice dark brown/amber color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down somewhat quickly and leaves some lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitly give out hints of belgian yeast, spices, dark fruit and sweet roasted caramelly malts.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has a nice bready yeast character, sweet caramelly malts, a bit of dark fruit and some spices at the end.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.

poured from a 33cl bottle into an oversized wine glass.

Pours a deep brown color with ruby hues and a big foamy off white head that dwindles down to soft peaks which stick around for a long time.

The aroma is very rich and spicy with dark fruits, molasses and hints of brown sugar. Really complex and the belgian yeast characteristic gives way to light floral notes on the back end.

Taste is very good. Complex, caramalized brown sugar and yeasty bready malts come through. Dark molasses and a hint of all spice come through as well. Very spicy on the finish.

The mouthfeel is light and fluffy with a dry finish and a very high level of carbonation leaves the palate clean and dry on the finish.

Overall this beer is very good and a great alternative to the basic brown ale. I wouldnt classify this as a belgian dark as as this doesnt have much of a fruity characteristic and really doesnt fit with the masses. Great beer though!

Poured from a 33cl bottle into a goblet. This pours a dark brown with a small tan head which quickly dissipates, best before 10/2/13. The smell is of tobacco, yeast esters, dark fruit, bread malts. The feel is medium, high carbonation. The taste is okay, banana, spice, a nice dry finish, dark fruit.

Bottle gifted to me by Thorpe429; thanks Mike! Poured from an 11.2 oz bottle into my Chimay chalice. Best by date of 27/4/13 on it.

a - Pours a dark mahogany brown color with one finger of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of bananas, cloves, bready malts, spices, Belgian yeast, raisins, and dark fruits. Very nice, really like the bananas in the nose.

t - Tastes of bananas, raisins, figs, dark fruits, spices, cloves, Belgian yeast, bready malts, grains, and nuts. Little more dark fruit and pepper then the nose and less bananas, a step down for me.

m - Medium body and low to moderate carbonation. Smooth and very creamy; very easy to drink. Great body.

o - Overall I thought this was a pretty good beer. I thought it had a really nice nose full of Belgian yeast and bananas, though the taste wasn't quite as great. A very good beer I'd have again.

Reviewed from notes taken a couple of days ago.

A moderate pour netted me a finger and a half of foamy head the color of clean playing sand. It has a dark cola brown body with good lacing and head retention.

The flavor is highly malty but there is a nice balance with fresh floral hops. Light grape and banana notes are present as well.

The flavor is very much malt and bananas. Heavy clove and spices end it off and it gains a good amount of breadiness the more it warms.

This is an easy drinking Belgian. It has decent carbonation to keep it moving and its slightly drying on the end. Good stuff.
