I had the Leffe Radieus in the same sitting as when I had the Andechser Doppelbock at
Brauhaus with Paul. The Leffe Radieus Pours out a dark red brown with a minimal head which
quickly disappears to leave a nice lacing. The Radieus smells really fruity and the taste is
strongly fruity and sweet as well; mainly cherries perhaps and other sweet dark fruits seems
to be present. The mouth feel is a little thin bodied for the high level of fruitiness;
carbonation was slightly over but that was alright. And although this Leffe goes strong at
8.2 ABV it feels surprisingly light and very smooth drinking. Very commendable drinkability
for a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. The after taste is again pleasantly sweet and fruity.
Although the beer is not strong and not really thick bodied enough, it still exhibited a
unique character and was definitely not like some washed down fruit beer. Quite a unique
experience and perhaps not something I would expect of a Leffe. But I positively like the
Leffe Radieus and if you are a fan of fruity Belgium Dark ales, do not miss this one.
