330ml bottle poured in its own chalice.

A: Orange color with a big white bubbled head which dissipates quickly leaving no lacings

S: Honey. Sweet malts, Belgian yeasts. A bit fruity and spicy. Alcohol

T: Honey, sweet malts, Belgian yeasts. Alcohol and a decent hop bitterness in the end

M: Heavy body. Molasses too. Belgian sweet bitterness pleasure

O: Nice beer

25cl bottle purchased as an 8pack in France. Best by date of Jan 2013.
A: clear, lightly coppery. Poured into a wide-mouth glass. Little head which subsided quickly, nearly no lacing.
S: almost none. A bit of fruit and alcohol.
T: Hints of orange along with the expected Belgian spicyness. A taste of alcohol but not unpleasant. The spicy quality lingers pleasantly on the palate and dominates the taste experience.
M: medium, little carbonation
O: My opinion of this beer improved with each sampling. The combined flavors don't clearly express an individual character for this beer however, which keeps it from being great. I would cheerfully buy this again.

it came as one of 4 beers in the gift pack that also includes two Leffe chalices. the price of the whole gift pack was 25.72 euro. served it at the temperature of 12 Celsius in the 330 milliliter chalice i got from the gift pack. best before date 09/04/12

A - totally loved the coper color. little retention, same with the carbonation and lace.

S - as i poured it in the chalice the 1st thing that hit me was the banana, but after closer examination i felt the honey, some spices ad the strong alcohol in the back.

T - strong banana in the front. mainly sweet taste with caramel in the back.also the alcohol is pretty suppressed.

M - u can feel a lot more carbo than u can taste but still is not too much. medium body.

awesome beer, if u can u should try it ... needless to say more

750ml bottle from a small grocery store in Paris. They had half a dozen beers on the shelf and this was one of them.

Pours a burnt copper color with an airy tan head. Head falls rather slow, thin lacing.

Mild malt aroma that seems pleasantly sweet. No real hops in the nose.

Nice malt taste. Sweet yet mildly so, and quite delicious. Bit of hop in the finish maybe.

Medium bodied mouthfeel and rather sharp on the tongue. Biting and perfectly carbonated.

Pretty good. Defiantly worth a try if you come across it.

A: pink like rose wine. very mild carbonation, barely any head.
S: also rose wine like, with plum, alcohol and strong sweetness and a tinge sour.
T: a strange and unpleasant prominent tartness cuts what seems like a very nice base flavor. alcohol. also rose wine like, pleasant and balanced under the not so nice veil. sad that the tartness ruins it for me.
M: medium body, tartness with low carbonation.
O: almost a good beer, with one major flaw.

A special thanks to jeffo for this treat in our last trade.

Clear honey hue, 2 finger off white head.

Bubble Gum, sweet malt, banana and light clove dominate the nose.

Taste is moderately different, significantly malty with some honey like flavors. Moderately sweet, and somewhat two dimensional but there are slight hop notes and slight distinct belgian yeast notes.

Mouthfeel is moderately smooth as much as I dislike using that term. Somewhat lively carbonation throughout makes this 9% beer not a chore to get through.

Overall this was a welcome experience made possible by jeffo and I appreciate it very much, but for now, I'll put the DeMolen first before wanting to try another Leffe offering.

4th Beer in my 'Odd-Beer tasting evening: 18th June 2011.

33cl Brown bottle, best before 7th Sept 2012, poured into a stemmed Leffe tulip.

Looks impressive, filled the glass very well. Good well formed white head above a light amber body.

The smell is of very mild smoked ham and Belgian yeasts, add some vanilla wrapped in a banana skin and you're almost there.

The taste also seemed to have a smoked hint, as well as those yeasts in the smell. Alcohol is very evident in the taste, but the banana and vanilla from the smells appear too.

Medium body feel, Leffe get some bad press from a lot of Belgian beer fans, but this is fine.

Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation, medium bodied, quite sticky
Overall: Pretty decent beer

Sadly, I've only seen this come in these awful 25 cL bottles endemic to France.

A: Pretty amber color; cute head, though a little thin.

S: Hints of honeysuckle and oleander. I actually have no idea what oleander smells like, but it looks like it would smell like this beer.

T: Mirthful and worthy of careful tasting (what one calls dégustation in this country). Prepare for rampant sugariness, for better or worse.

M: This could stand a little more carbonation, so it's not so juicy. Nice aftertaste begs for another drink (which, at 9%, can be perilous).

O: Great beer to bring to a party; not so good with meals, much better with some kind of salty snack.

Appearance: Arrives with a hazy honey color capped by a couple of inches of foam; both retention and lacing were good

Smell: Malt forward, with banana and honey elements

Taste: Malt forward flavors take the stage, front and center, with the banana and honey elements joined by a spicy yeast character at mid-palate; after the swallow, the alchohol becomes apparent and washes it all down in a balanced finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A very respectable BSPA; it is a shame that Leffe exports only the Blonde to the US
