Pours mahogany with a thumb of tan head. Great lacing & very good head retention

S: Pine, grapefruit & not much else

T: Pine, roastyness, faint smokeyness & grapefruit up front. Charred grain & pineyness, plus roastyness & grapefruit as this warms . Finishes grapefruitty & roasty, plus pineyness

Medium bodied, assertive carbonation, decent balance

This alright, not seeing much difference between this & prior iterations (427 characters)

This one threw me from the start. Given it's an OP(ale)A I thought it would be pale, instead it was a dark brown with a light tan head that threw some wispy lace on the glass. Aroma was a hit of sharp pine and not much else. A little bit more happening on the palate, more pine and hop bitterness, slight nutty roastiness from the dark malts and a little citrus as it warms ups.

Basically it comes across as a hoppy American brown ale. Not a bad single to pick up as something new to try. I just don't see where this OPA series is going. I figured the point was to change up one component in each beer (yeast, spice, one malt, etc.). This is a completely beer and where is the oatmeal? Then again it's beer so I probably shouldn't worry about it. A good beer, just doesn't follow the theme. (794 characters)
