A-color is pitch black. head is slightly tan but not very big.

S-first sniff is fantastic! cream, roasted coffee, toffee, dark chocolate, cherries?, nutty. and if you take a step back and just try to appreciate the combination of that all, it's very nice.

T-doesn't quite live up to the aroma, but still delicious. the toffee, chocolate, and cream stand out the most.

M-a little thinner than i expected/hoped for, but good.

very tasty. i could have a couple of these back to back. this one went down quickly (512 characters)

A - Dark chocolate with a tan head that disappears quickly.

S - Smokey, toasted almost burnt malts.

T - Bitter chocolate taste.

M - Smooth with medium body.

d - Tastes alright, but I wish you could taste some of the sweet in the malts rather than all burnt bitter. (268 characters)

Served from a 12 oz bottle, poured into a stein.

A: Black with an OK head, minimal lacing. Gives the impression of a strong, stark beer.

S: Slightly malty, very apparent chocolate.

T: Malts and chocolate are the most apparent with just enough sweetness to give it a Chocolate Malt Ball quality. Pleasant as an after dinner beer.

M: Good mouthfeel, carbonation is fairly light, but not "flat" and with a low alcohol content it is not obtrusive.

D: Great drinkability, the drink lends itself to being a good "after dinner" beer, although it definitely lends itself to all occasions. (585 characters)

Thanks willandperry for this beer, needless to say we don't get this one in Virginia.

A - dark brown almost black, when first poured, lot of head, calmed down after a few minutes where it almost looked like meringue on a pie
S - Not a lot of smell from this one, faint hint of smokiness
T - Hint of chocolate, very light taste
M - Very tasty beer, nothing overbearing, could easily be a session beer

O - Good beer, glad to have the chance to try it and would definitely like another, hint, hint, like to give other beers from this brewery a shot. (548 characters)

Purchased one 12oz bottle. Poured into glass and was very dark with some ruby hues with a 3 finger head.

Nice smell of malt sweetness.

Taste is smooth with a smoky porter like taste with a hint of sour. Detected a mild hop bitterness. Very delicious. Taste like a porter light if there was such a thing. Not near as heavy and could definetly drink a 6 pack with ease.

This review is edited because my last beer of this beer a year ago has changed 180 degrees. I believe the beer I got last year was either old or a bad batch. I have had several now in the sample packs sold and I find it to be one of my favorites. Completely different than the beer I tried and reviewed a year ago. (686 characters)

I have had this a couple times. First time was good the 2nd not so much but I think Choc had a problem a while back since most of the brews I had from them had some very bad off flavors. This time I found the Miner Mishap to be quite nice.

Pours a nice dark deep bronw/black. Smallish tan head.

Nose had some burnt oders to it due to the dark malts.

Intial taste is clean with slight roasted flavor, finishes sweet. Mouth feel is very smooth.

Drinkablilty is excellant. Could be a nice session type brew. (509 characters)

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: It appears black until it's held up to a light and shows it's red color. A light tan head starts out nearly two fingers and doesn't fade until the bottom half of the glass, leaving a moderate lacing.

Smell: Overwhelmingly malty, almost like a vanilla milkshake.

Taste: The malt is still predominate, a little sweet with some bitter chocolaty roasted flavors as you swallow.

Mouth feel: I wouldn't call it thin by any means, but it doesn't quite live up to the heft of the flavor.

This is only my second schwarzbier, so I can't speak for how well it represents the style, but I enjoyed it. I couldn't see drinking too many of these in a sitting but two or three aren't out of the question. I'm almost tempted to drop a scoop of ice cream in one. (806 characters)

Great. First beer I ever tried from Krebs, but sets a high standard. Looks nice, smells great, tastes better. I think the average reviews for this are too low.

Dark malty goodness that tastes sort of chocolaty and doesn't lose it's flavor as your glass slowly warms. Not too complex or trying to mix too many flavors in there. The stout-like flavors aren't too strong and let it still taste like a beer and not like a chocolate bar or a cup of coffee. Just a simple, smooth, easy to drink beer.

Buy this beer. For sure. (521 characters)

This beer looked great coming out of the bottle; thick foamy head and rich black color. The beer was definitely lighter in body, almost watery, and not refreshing of lifting. The taste was pretty flat, not very much bitterness. I was expecting more aftertaste but not much to be had. (283 characters)
