Recieved this as a bonus in-trade from timbro81, a big thank you as this has been something I've wanted to try for awhile.

Poured a dark solid black with a thin bit of tan fluffy head.

Smells very roasted, a bit of chocolate.

Taste is sadly, average. A bit of chocolate and roasted malt, but an odd faint hint of something sour, and the aftertaste is a little more bitter than what I'm used to with Schwarzbier. No alcohol flavor at all, which is nice.

Mouthfeel is light, could be a bit more smooth. Nothing extraordinary.

Drinkability here is average. I applaud the makers as its not bad at all, and if I'm in the area I'll be sure to try some, hopefully on tap. Thanks again Tim.

Purchased one 12oz bottle. Poured into glass and was very dark with some ruby hues with a 3 finger head.

Nice smell of malt sweetness.

Taste is smooth with a smoky porter like taste with a hint of sour. Detected a mild hop bitterness. Very delicious. Taste like a porter light if there was such a thing. Not near as heavy and could definetly drink a 6 pack with ease.

This review is edited because my last beer of this beer a year ago has changed 180 degrees. I believe the beer I got last year was either old or a bad batch. I have had several now in the sample packs sold and I find it to be one of my favorites. Completely different than the beer I tried and reviewed a year ago.

Courtesy of wolfman17. 12 oz. stubby bottle poured into my Brooklyn tulip tumbler. The bottle has interesting info about the beer and the brewer. A one finger light tan head rises up and gently fades to a light covering. Streaks of lace on my glass. Tiny columns of bubbles gently rise up.

Smells are of roasted malt, hint of dark fruit like figs. Sugar,a trace of caramel, and faint chocolate notes underneath. A light citrus and hop floral component as well. Pepper in the back of my nose.

Taste is roasted malt and a pleasing sourness with sweet burnt caramel in the middle. A mild phenolic in the finish along with a firm hop bitterness that brings back the roasty malt on my tongue. A yeasty bready aspect slips in and out. Quite delicious.

Mouthfeel is a light medium and gently creamy. Carbonation is spot on for a "black lager" and very refreshing.

Drinkability is excellent and makes this one a perfect session beer when your tastes run darker and roasty. MMM roasty

Poured into a snifter. Miner Mishap pours a cloudy mahogany with a slightly off-white head. Decent head retention and pretty nice lacing for the style. Very faint aromas of cabbage at first, some white pepper, actually I am picking up some vinegar as well, but these aromas are not powerful. Very pleasant sour flavors. Slight hints of roasted malts. The finish has some cabbage and metallic flavors. Mouthfeel is a little thick, but the beer is crisp. Carbonation level is a little high for the style. Overall, Miner Mishap is not bad, but schwarzbier are not my style. I feel the beer could improve on certain points, but it is a good representation of the style.

Acquired via trade from timbro81, so a big Thank You goes out to him. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a dark brown color with a large light brown head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of chocolate, caramel, dark roasted malts and lager yeast, with just a touch of hops in the background.

T: The taste is malty and smoky up front with flavors of chocolate, caramel and some dark fruit. There's a mild and pale hops presence that provides a decent balance. The bready flavor of lager yeast doesn't quite dominate but it remains a strong background the whole way through. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, slightly sticky finish.

D: Tasty, goes down easily, slightly filling, decent kick, very good representation of style, this is a good beer to drink to drink for a while when you're in the mood for a Schwarzbier.

A - Poured dark with a tan head that's easy to create. Foam retention is good with light lacing.
S - Overwhelming roasted and chocolate aroma. Smells very sweet.
T - Slightly bitter finish with a lingering aftertaste of roasted malt. Again, Sweet.
M - Medium to full body with a medium carbonation. Smooth.
D - Would purchase again. This beer has first-sip likeability if you're in the mood for sweet. Very easy to drink and a good transition beer to the darker side.

Pours a dark black with a quick fading tan coarse head. Smells of bittersweet chocolate, roastedness, and some hops. Taste is tight and somewhat complex. Initially presents with a dark silky roastedness with some more chocolatiness that transitions quickly to tingly, spicy hop notes. The finish lingers for a bit. A good Schwarzbier and a nice offering from Choc. Definitely worth checking out.

Pours a pitch black, with a medium tan head. Smells of chocolate and toasty malt. Tastes like dark chocolate, and roasted malts. A nice kick from the bittering hops. Mouthfeel is full, slightly high carbonation levels. Quite drinkable, this would make a good session beer.

Served on-tap in a standard 16oz pint glass.

Dark brown with plenty of tan head.

Aroma doesn't stand out much with just a hint of roast and a bit of spicy hops.

Taste delivers much more than the nose with a coffee/cocoa roast character that falls just short of what's found in a standard American porter. Not much else in the way of malt flavors, but a fair amount of spicy, noble hoppiness rounds out the roast.

Medium bodied and carbonation is spot on. Overall, a solid Schwarzbier with a little bit more roast than traditional German examples and enough hops to balance it all out.

Had on tap at McNellie's in Tulsa. Dark in the pint with a small off white head ring around the top of the glass.

Smells of roasted malt and chocolate.

Great full flavor here, yet very light and easy to drink. Chocolate, coffee beans, roast malt and bread crust.

I was very impressed by this one. Had the big flavor of a robust porter with a light body that was very drinkable. Could've sessioned these all night.
