A - Pours a hazy garnet with a 1 finger of light-tan head that retains very well.
S - A mix of green and red apples, solid caramel background blends with raisins, prunes, figs, spice, with a nutty praline aroma. Hints of dark rum and pine.
T - Dark fruit, raisins, Adriatic fig, currants, raw brown sugar, spice, all blend with a candy syrup sweetness with notes of caramel covered bananas. Dense malt backbone layers well with the fruit esters and spice.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, nice dry finish.
This is a staple December beer in my house. Bold flavors that are delicately inter-weaved. Very well done.

5 year old bottle kept refrigerated.
Appearance: Murky brown glass, holds a thin head.
Aroma: Purple grape jam, Belgian yeast, grainy wheat.
Taste: Mellow fruity base, yeasty banana note, rum soaked raisins, mild cola note.
Mouthfeel: Low carbonation, warm alcohol, dry finish.
Overall: Held up really well. No off flavors or aromas, probably mellowed out a lot, it's likely over 5 years old, it has the 2009 Gold medal winner award on the label. A nice cellar experiment, would try again.

This is my definition of what a Belgian-style beer should taste like. It has a nice head when poured on the right glass . The bouquet is subtle but magnificent at the same time. Extraordinary complexity in the flavors with a perfect, lingering fruity aftertaste. A perfectly balanced beer that should be in your arsenal at all times.
