After checking Beerfly and soliciting some suggestions in Beer Forum from locals, I decided to stop in at Holiday to explore their shelves for great Cali beer before traveling a few miles down the road to Stone. My 30 mile road trip there did not disappoint.
A great selection of brews. Naming some I purchased and had shipped home: Russian River's Pliny the Elder (x2) and Blind Pig (x2), Green Flash Le Freak, Port Brewing Old Viscosity, Anderson Valley Brother David's Dubbel, and a collaboration saison brewed by Port Brewing and Hildigard of Urthel fame. The staff was a tad young but knowledgable, though efficiency was not their strength. I say this because the girl who rang up my selections abandoned me to a young guy who spent 20 minutes packaging my order which I only paid for after the manager noticed me standing and waiting at the register. Not the end of the world. Anyway, they have a large cooler of many Cali and guest brewers beers. As a side note, I find it interesting that RR's stuff had to stay refridgerated, particularly since the Pliny I had shipped as part of my order via UPS ground which took seven days to get to the East coast was fine upon opening.
Note that it was $30 to ship eight bottles. This is a UPS thing, not HWC.
I will say this - I did not see 800 bottles as advertised so I can only presume they sell that many selections over the course of a year, otherwise, this is a dubious claim. I'm sure there's an explanation for this and I invite them to clarify the situation. Additionally, yes, the selection is great for Cali brews but no, it isn't for everything else from what I could tell. Still, a great place and my stuff was shipped in a timely manner. Worth the visit if in the area.

I graduated HS and grew up in Escondido, and whenever I come back to visit my family I always make a couple of stops here during my vacation. If you do not feel like stopping by one of the many breweries in the North County, you could always stop by Holiday Wine Cellar to find and pick up some unique beer offerings. For me, this is the best bottle shop in the North County of San Diego. Wen I stopped in last week during my last trip, I was able to buy Lost Abbey Track 8, Older Viscosity, Peche Mortel, Hopparillo, Swami's, and Belching Beaver Old Dirty Barrel. They even had Mogli, which I can never find in Northwest Washington. This place has a great selection of craft beer, plus it also sells wine, liquor, and cigars. The employees were helpful and mostly nice, one guy seemed like he was having a bad day, but he was still helpful. The only change I would recommend is, brighten the place up a little. Well...it is supposed to be a cellar...

What a fantastic store. I came out with almost 2 cases of a variety of delicious brews and the customer service was excellent. I received help and recommendations from two associates. Sadly I had to leave some items behind but it was a gem of a beer/wine/spirits store. Don't forget to check out their walk in cooler behind the beer coolers. They also have a rewards program where you can get some discounts later.
