500mL can (canned 2/6/2013) into an English pint glass. Pours a clear golden color w/ a fluffy white head that leaves behind some lace. Moderate carbonation.

Aroma is grainy and mildly floral.

Taste follows nose. Pale malt, floral Old World hops, neutral yeast. Just a hint of bitterness on the finish. Boring but inoffensive.

Mouthfeel is clean and crisp, light and drinkable.

Overall an unremarkable beer you don't have to think about. A few of these would pair well with a few slices of hangikjöt or a tasty loaf of laufabrauð while soaking in a geothermal hot spring.

Hey man, overall this beer for the style of American Adjunct ain't that bad. It seems cleaner and less metallic than the American kings of beer.

A: Very pretty golden color with pilsner like cascading bubbles that float up to a nice healthy white frothy head into my pilsner glass.

S: Pretty average-bad smell of corn (maize) influenced bread malt and not really much hops to speak of, seems typical of a Bud or Coors. Maybe a touch of yeast evident.

Taste is basically like the smell with a sugary corn malt and some bright hops peeking through at the clean finish. Has a pretty nice cleanliness to it in feel, might be the water. Has a little bit of that skunky taste as it warms though, which was expected.

Overall it's not too bad, and would make normal not BA beer drinkers maybe a bit happier than Bud or Miller, though maybe just for the novelty of it being a Icelandic beer.

Poured from a half-litre can into a Gouden Carolus chalice.

A: Honey-coloured; almost completely transparent. No head to speak of.

S: No. Smell. At. All. I literally dunked my nose into the beer by accident, trying in vain to find a scent. Weird...

T: Pleasant. Mild. Sweet grain. Very straightforward. A slight bite -- maybe -- at the tail end of the taste. Smooth nothing of an aftertaste.

M: Really good! Light and enjoyable. Barely sweet and bubbly on the tongue. I enjoy it.

D: I could drink this beer all night. Fantastic drinkability, but it's boring as hell.

330ml bottle poured into an old fashioned glass.

Pours a piss yellow with no head and light bubbles, nose is light with a bit of malt but smells like an adjunct lager.

Served a bit warm and this is a beer you want as cold as possible. Off flavors all over the place on this - lots os buttery esters, very sharp carbonation. Mouthfeel is decent and kind of thick but it can't save it.

Considering that prohibition wasn't over in Iceland until 1989 I didn't really have any spectacular expectations for this beer. Carlsberg has also consistently dominated the beer market there. If I hadn't known better I would have actually assumed that I was drinking Ginger Ale or something of that nature, because the beer seemed to fizz after being poured. It has a very golden color with almost no head whatsoever. There is almost no smell to it, but it is possible to detect hints of sweetness, almost like sugar. There wasn't much taste to speak of either and it was quite carbonated, which surprised me considering I was drinking it in Iceland.

This was tasted on an Icelandair flight returning from Europe. Starts off looking very nice: it's clear and straw colored. The head is rocky and it leaves spotty lace.

Unfortunately, the positives end at the smell. This beer has the traditional macro-lager smells--mild raw grain and faint hop.

This is a thin and watery offering. I could note very light hop. It appears that there is a high proportions of adjucts, like corn or rice. So, here is Iceland's version of an American Macro. Not for me.

The color is yellow, the foam is quite ugly, pock-marked, and scarce.
In the smell, malt, and some corn. Neutral, so and so.
The taste is quite horrible. Corn. Well, let it go.
Why one would to drink this one? I don't know. Ok, it's from Iceland, but it is not enough.

Viking Gylltur

Served up bottle form. Brought back from Reykjavik

Appearance- pale almost clear yellow with a thick soapy white head.
Smell- sweet sugar and skunky malt.
Taste- no better in bottle than on tap. Sweet with a stingy metallic taste. Tastes like several spoonfuls of sugar added to a meister brau!!
Mouthfeel- watery yet with an acidic aftertaste.

Overall- That's it I'm done with Viking. I've had it bottled and on tap. It is bad! Such a shame for an awesome country to put out such bad beer!

The body is a very clear pale gold color, but the color isn't dull. The head is wimpy and fade completely in very little time. The hop smell is similar to a Heinekin or Beck's. The flavor is light, with a light bitterness in the back. Nothing special.
