Hazy orange amber with a creamy sticky lace. Quite a hoppy aroma with hints of citric rind all around.

Assertive and semi-coarse hop bitterness rides the carbonation. Sweet hoppy oils of citrus fruit, mandarin orange and peel. The malt back bone struggles to hold its own yet it shows some underlying bready flavour with some sweetness. Hints of yeast residual sweetness in the finish.

An amazing IPA, these are the traits you should look for in an American IPA.

On tap @ the brewpub on 5/24/09. Served in a pint glass.

Pours a hazy coppery amber with a 1/2 finger of foamy off-white head. Retains with a thin look, that flares up nicely, leaving back some frothy spotty lacing that slowly drips down the sides of the glass. The aroma is spicy and herbal with hops, along with a thick backing tang of tropical fruits and caramel sweetness. There is also a nice bit of alcohol denseness as well, giving this some added presence in the nose.

The taste is very spicy with, a resinous edge to it and some underlying herbal and earthy qualities as well. This is nicely backed by a beefier tasting tangy backbone of citrus flavors and bready caramel sweetness. The bitterness returns in the finish, laying a drying and spicy feel on the tongue that sticks. The mouthfeel has a fuller medium bodied feel to it, with a creamier carbonation that spreads out in the mouth, yet also possesses a slicker current underneath that carries a good bit of oily slickness in it. As mentioned elsewhere, some moderate alcohol beef is all over this but never gets distracting, actually helping add some extra poise to the profiles.

Well done IPA here from Willimantic. This has been one of their staple hoppy beers here and it shows. Full flavored with hop character, yet this remains well balanced and easy drinking despite the higher ABV. Another great IPA from these guys!

Poured a deep copper hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured an earthy and citric hop with a soft caramel.

The taste consisted of caramel malt, both an earthy spice and cascade cirtusness and a toasted malt at the finish.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style with a residual spice.

Overall a tasty and solid IPA.

L: Pours a hazy orange with a really nice medium sized and light bodied white colored head that laces the glass really nicely on the way down.
S: Smells of sweet toasted and roasted malts, a faint citrusy scent, and then a big earthy/citrusy hoppy aroma that is really nicely balanced.
T: Very nice sweet roasted and toasted malt base, then a nice citrusy hop aroma with a hint of earthiness. Really nice flavoring and usage of the hops.
M: Very crisp, fresh, very refreshing, perfect amount of carbonation.
D: Very drinkable IPA, loved it!

Pours a cloudy amber with a small cream colored head/lacing.

A decent hop aroma, citrus being the most immediate smell to the nose.

The hop bitterness is immediate, with a fruity cirtrus flaveor being the most stand out. It's hard to find the malt taste in the beer, but if you look hard enough you'll taste it towards the end of your sip. A decent bready flavor.

Pretty darn drinkable being an unfiltered IPA. Most unfiltered IPA's can overwhelm the mouthfeel, but I think it wasn't overdone.

I would have had another, but I wanted myself a Stone IPA seeing they had it on tap.

Served chilled from a growler from the Willi Brew. Had to let sit on the counter as it was too cold. Poured a murky reddish orange color. About an inch of thick creamy off white head from a somewhat vigorous pour. Head disapeared into a thick layer of lace in the glass. Smelled very hoppy with a nice malty kick also citrus fruits, short pine bursts, and bready yeast. Taste: nice tame hops on a thick malty backbone, citrus fruits such as grapefruit and lemon zest. Somewhat yeasty, peppery and grassy. Somewhat thick in the mouth. Nicely balanced. Medium bodied with no detectable alcohol. Moderate carbination. This one is VERY drinkable. Another great offering from the Willi Brew.

6.2%, unfiltered. nugget, perle, cascade.

light reddish with a luxurious creamy head. crisp and sparkly. fresh herbal hop smell. some roasted malt carrying through a slight sourness. not the best aroma ive encountered in an IPA. serious bitter hop taste with a biting background note of anise, some dandelion greens. malt is light contributing to a light mouthfeel. creamy, as a cask ale should be. this beer leaves you all bittered up in the mouth region. a tumultuous ride, but a winner overall.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy brown with a very small head. Aroma of resiny hops, grassy hops, and caramel malt. Flavor of nice caramel malts well-balanced with a bitter, hoppy finish. Solid IPA, although of course less emphasis on the hops vs. the malt. My favorite Willimantic offering so far.
