Served as part of a flight of beers at Willibrew.

A: Brownish black and rather murky. A thin tan film covers the stout.

S: Smells robust; nutty, coffee, cocoa and some spicy characteristics, no doubt lent from the rye.

T: It's very good, tasting the full range of sweet malt, slightly bitter hops, spicy and tart rye, but finishing it all off with a smoky, nutty almost porter-like wash.

M: Mouthfeel is light-medium, but errs on the sticky sweet side.

D: Would make for a great session stout, if that's what you're into at the time. Willibrew has too many other selections for me to stay with this one, though I'd recommend it to anyone.

American Stout I'm sure, but I couldn't help but thinking of Russian Stout the whole time. At any rate, very good stout, onee that I hope they brew again in the future.

Correct name of this beer is RMS Drye Stout.

Deep mahogany colored with a rich brown frothy head that sinks quickly. Low aroma of roasty dark malt and cocoa. Flavor is rich and malty, with hints of smoke and cocoa, and some brown sugar. The rye spice is understated, perhaps masked by the other rich flavors. Full and even mouthfeel, but also dry and tannic. Very enjoyable stout.

On-tap 10/26/07 at the brewpub, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep black color, with a short brown head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of creamy chocolate and roasted malts with some coffee and spices.

T: The taste is also very creamy with flavors of milk chocolate, coffee and dark malts. It’s pretty well-balanced for a stout. There’s very little hops but it really isn’t needed here. The after-taste is bready and sweet.

M: Very smooth with a little crispness, medium-to-heavy body, light-to-medium carbonation, sticky finish.

D: Very tasty, goes down easily, not too filling for the style, decent kick, very good representation of style, I typically wouldn’t select a stout to drink for a long period of time, but this beer would be the exception to that rule.
