Served in a pint glass with a nice one fingers worth of a milk chocolate head. Body is black with a hint of transparency at the edges. Some lacing with barely any head remaining.

Milk chocolate, malty sweetness and some coffee. Quite a good smell and this leads into a very nice taste.

Creamy milk chocolate, a good amount of vanilla and coffee, a bit of roast and a hint of clean bitterness.

Medium thin body, low carbonation. I like a touch more body but as it stands it is flat out quaffable.

Very nice full flavored milk stout. The vanilla and coffee are very balanced and complimenting. Bravo, the three of us had a few of these.

On tap @ Willibrew on 2/18/10. Served in a pint glass.

Pours black with 1/4 finger of smooth mocha colored head. This retains with some richness around the edges, leaving a quality looking cascade of foamy lacing that quickly slides down the sides of the glass. The aroma is full of dark roast, astringent smelling coffee, earthy hops, and then finally sweet vanilla notes that lend an almost sharp tanginess to the smell. Nice.

The taste is roasty chocolate sweetness, coffee, earthy citrus, and smooth vanilla, which all combine to, once again, help impart a deeply rich tang to the profile. The vanilla probably comes out to me the most in the finish, where is finishes (literally) with a smack on the lips. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a nice sharp creaminess to the carbonation, while a silky layer of milky sweetness underneath gives this a very slick feel in the mouth.

Roasty, sweet, tangy, and very easy drinking, a February visit to Willibrew wouldn't be complete without a pint of this delicious vanilla-infused Stout.

A-Deep black with a thin light tan head that vanished into a wisp and left spotty lace.

S-Rich fresh ground coffee with a kiss (duh) of vanilla. Nice underlying base of rich roast malt.

T-Vanilla and chocolate flavoured coffee. Nice supporting roasted malt in the back adds a bit of bitterness and balance. Never does this brew become too sweet. A total delight!

M-Medium bodied and a bit lighter than you would expect. Regardless this does not detract from the long lasting enjoyment of the flavours.

D-Simple put...this is one seriously good beer! Proof--my wife, who rarely orders the same beer twice, had to be restrained not to order a THIRD! An excellent beer that must be imbibed to be believed!

After a weekend drinking lots of extreme beers at the Extreme Beer Fest and other craft beers in and around Boston, this was the surprise hit of the weekend. My palate was given one last awakening with this real treat from Willimantic.

Pours black in color with very little head. It's very drinkable with a solid mouthfeel, not heavy at all and not particularly thin either. The smell is nice, almost like freshly brewed coffee with a shot of vanilla. As for taste, vanilla rules here but it's not overpowering. Plenty of chocolate and coffee notes as well. It reminded me in a way of Autocrat Coffee Milk (a Rhode Island/ New England treat). All of that aside, it still drank like a legit, well crafted stout. Don't let the sweet playful flavors fool you. This is a serious and seriously wonderful brew.

I would have given this a higher rating on taste however there was such a high presence of vanilla that i think it took away from the total taste of the beer. It was really good if it wasnt from that, had way way way too much vanilla, that wasnt no kiss.

Dark black, nearly opaque with a small clingy head of off-white foam that dies quickly and leaves no lacing. The aromas are roasty with a huge hit of vanilla as well. Wow, but the vanilla aroma is not artificial at all. It smells like real bakers vanilla! The tastes follows suit. Huge vanilla flavor hits are balanced out by some big roasted malt notes, to make this one hell of a Vanilla stout. Wow, this is how you use Vanilla in a dark beer. Bravo. Mouthfeel is not too thick and drinkability is very good as well! Wow, one of the best Vanilla beers I have had, and definatel;y in the top 3 for Vanilla stouts/porters. I wish more brewpubs would make a beer like this. Simply killer if you are a fan of real vanilla flavors!

Creamy coffee colored head with very good retention. Some condensed lacing with good durability. Opaque black in color.

Roasted, milk chocolate malt character with a moderate amount of vanilla. Some hazlenut and light toffee as well, but the vanilla serves as the primary aroma.

Milk chocolate, lightly sweetened toffee, and vanilla. A bit of burnt roasted maltiness with a well balanced hop presence. A medium bitterness at mid-sip followed by more vanilla and coffee in the aftertaste. An irish-stout type dryness in the finish.

Full bodied; sweet and creamy on the palate. Bitterness is balanced well with the rich chocolate and vanilla flavors.

This one is a full bodied brew that is light and sweet enough to have a few of. This one reminds me exactly of Magic Hat's Ravell, besides finishing dryer. A very flavorful stout to say the least.

The beer is a solid, oily black, like motor oil, topped with a thin taupe mist. The head drops out about halfway through, although some agitation brings up a thin mist. Unfiltered.
The aroma is a blend of mellow roasted barley and vanilla. The malt imparts a pleasant mocha feel that works well with the vanilla bean. Faint estery plum and a touch of herbal hops. A bit of a lactic quality. The vanilla is very strong, but allows the malt to come through adequately.
The flavor starts with a soft roasted malt, the vanilla flavor coming in quickly and prominently. The vanilla rides throughout the entire sip, building in the middle with a bit of plum. Bitter dark roasted coffee and baker's chocolate keep it in line, the coffee gaining ground as you move into the finish. Respectable, understated herbal hops provide a bit of bittering in the finish, with the vanilla diminishing somewhat. The vanilla rides into the aftertaste, with a bit of coffee bitterness. Gentle carbonation supports the silky medium body.
A well done vanilla stout. While assertive, the vanilla isn't really in your face, and allows the beery flavors to share some spotlight. My girlfriend loved this stuff, and ordered a pint of her own. It would be a solid stout even without the vanilla, it's just a little bonus. Another winner from Mr. Wollner.
