Had on Tap at the brewery.
Came as a jet black, yet kinda watery (not like those extremely viscous stouts that pour like syrup). Smell reminded me of seafood because of the oysters and there was really nothing about it that was encouraging. Tasted like oysters, roasted malt and water, not the worst beer I’ve ever had but defiantly approaching terrible for a “craft” non-BMC brew. Mouthful was not much, some more of the taste until it just became water. Not recommended, I hope this isn’t representative of the beers from this brewing co. because this was not good.

64 oz brewpub filled growler into a pint glass.
Pours a straight black in the glass, with several fingers of mocha colored head. This settles down into a tight near finger of foam, which maintains a smooth creaminess that skims the surface of the glass, and leaves back robust looking patches of thick lacing. The aroma smells…well…of oysters, having a meaty mineral feeling quality to it that sits on top of a ripe (and slightly acrid) combination of green citrus, chocolate sweetness, and roasted coffee. This just has a really solid Stout nose to it, with those oyster notes adding an extra layer of interesting flavor to this.
The taste is more of the same, with smooth chocolate sweetness, roast, and green citrus all melding together into a flavorful burnt tanginess on the palate. That mineral-like, protein character from the oysters sits on the edges of the profile and nicely compliments the others flavors (especially that silky chocolate) before pulling into the finish, where it lingers with an overall dry and roasty feel and a touch of lingering citric bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, maybe a touch fuller, with an initially sharp crispness on the tongue that then gives way to the soft creamy slickness that surrounds it on the sides. The alcohol is just fantastically hid here, with maybe some gentle warmth on the finish but man, this just drinks great for a 6% beer. I had a couple of imperial pints of this in one sitting and felt no palate fatigue from the flavors or ABV at all.
This was definitely the best Oyster Stout that I’ve ever had, as that entire shell flavor was right out there and perfectly complimented the rest of those rich flavors. Hell, the base Oatmeal Stout here was probably one of the best that I’ve had as well, with that delicious silky feeling mix of chocolate and oatmeal really leading the charge. Dave killed this one. I loved it!

A - as dark as a stout should be, inky and black, with a thin quarter finger of tan head
S - wicked coffee, chocolate, and mocha aromas, some bourbon kicks both in flavor and a quick little alcohol kick
T - the chocolate and coffee flavors a rich and deep, similar to the aroma but with more power, these flavors are joined by a licorice/anise characteristic and some lactic sourness
M&D - thinner than expected, similar to guinness in body, very drinkable and tasty, especially on cask, a quality stout

A stout brewed with oatmeal, oyster shells, and molasses.
Pours that typical stout, extremely dark, almost black. A nice one finger light tan head slowly dies down to a covering. Leaves some lacing.
Smells of roasted malts, coffee, and a slight molasses. No oyster in there!
Taste is phenomenal, it starts with a potent roasted bready malt, which fade into the sweet molasses and oats. Finishes with a delicate roastiness and strong coffee. My girlfriend agrees, strong coffee indeed.
Extremely smooth and sweet from the oats, let this one warm up and enjoy. No alcohol detectable.
Very drinkable, albeit strong. This was my go to choice for a growler, but I wanted a beer my girlfriend and I could enjoy together, so I opted for the more noobie friendly saison.
