Generally clear, bronze colour with a small, shortlasted, light tan head.

Mild toffee aroma with a touch of nuts. Lightly metallic and slightly oxidised.

Smooth, fruity and malty with plenty of toffee like malt notes. There's a bit of sweet diacetyl.

Medium-light body with moderately-high carbonation. Too crisp.

A nice, simple English ale with some fruity esters and toffee malt notes. Nothing complex or overdone.

Pours a copper colour - one finger head comes and goes almost immediatley

Aromas of earthy English malts, toffee and caramel.

Taste is bitter but almost unpleasantly so. Malts balance to a degree but this is not an easy drinking beer.

Carbonation a bit zippy, probably not to stlye.

Hmm - mostly 3s across the board tells it's own story, average beer.... I'm waiting for something to happen as it warms... and still waiting....

No visible BB on bottle - from Warners. Suspect not fresh enough...

A very very competent Burton-on-Trent lookalike. Stacks of gypsium, smokey stone, talcium powder. Lots of character yet so subtle. Massively drinkable and very enjoyable. Could be misplaced as an English bitter and close the best of its kind in Australia.

Purchased from Beer Cartel in Artarmon.

Pours a rather dark red-brown colour--too red, at least, to be bronze--with a large a bulbous, heavily-carbonated head of off-white. Bubbles are too big for the style, and the body is light. I like the colour, but I can't say I'm much enamoured of the appearance otherwise.

Nose is pleasantly balanced between sweet and roast, giving a classic blend of refined but rustic English characters. Sweet honey and molasses come through, with a depth suggesting dark grainy bread and roast beef. It doesn't develop a lot, but it's very pleasant.

Taste is smooth, and pleasantly balanced. Some dark grain notes meld nicely with the residual sweetness, although the sweetness continues for too long onto the back. A bigger grain character, or some nuttiness would really help on the back palate. Feel is light and tepid, a disappointing attribute in this style.

3 Ravens have done some good things, and done them well. But this beer doesn't shine the friendliest of lights upon them. It's a mediocre style done in a pretty mediocre fashion. It probably matches it with, say, James Squire Amber Ale, but you're not getting anything more exciting than that from this one.

Pours a good - yes, bronze - colour, nice earthy red overtones on an otherwise brown body. Head is cream-coloured, nice froth up when poured but sinks to a thin crown after a short while. Steady carbonation all through the body keeps what's left alive, while some spots of lace around serve as a monument to what was there. How depressing.

Smell is quite grainy and earthy. A lot of fresh milled grain blend with grassy hop notes and a touch of a metallic aroma. Some dry cocoa powder notes at the back add a rich texture to the underlying maltiness. Overall a pretty mild, pleasant smell.

Taste is also very mild, but a good balance is my first impression. Starts quite grainy, slight dessicated texture from the carbonation and has a slight oatmeal flavour with a touch of lemon zest on the mid. Finish is uneventful, but in a good way. It's long, with no spike from the mid-palate onwards. It just continues on with slight citric and grassy hop bitterness being clean and dry and slightly mild. Very slight sweet grain note at the very end, and a touch of soapy flavour late-mid. Otherwise a smooth and well-balanced ale.

It's long been established that 3 Ravens do balance and mild well. I'd really love to see them attack something truly nutty and crazy, but it's nice to see smooth, sessionable ales like this out there as well.

Pours into a Guinness pint a lovely, slightly cloudy bronze with a thin white head that disperses almost immediately and leaves the odd patch of lacing.

Not a real interesting aroma - biscuity malt and a barely noticeable noble hop character. Bland. Lightly minerally.

Toffee malt and politely English citric hop flavors (think supermarket marmalade rather than grapefruit pith) at the start and... that's about it. Nice while it lasts. Baking soda kind of thing in the finish (Burton salts perhaps?). Mildly annoying and hurts drinkability.

Mouthfeel is just a step above watery. Sessionable, but I don't think I'd really want to. Their stout is the only beer of theirs I've dug so far, but I hear the Uber Special Bitter is pretty great. More of those, less of this.

Bottle-conditioned, cloudy amber/brown with a tight, dense head. Looks good. Not getting much off the nose. Bit of pine...bit of toffee but not much. Very good mouth-filling bitterness on the palate. Nice touch of caramel malt at the back. Slightly concerning soapiness in there but not enough to detract too much. Pretty decent beer.

Hazy copper pour with a somewhat persistent small head.
Aroma is quite green, piney, earthy and hoppy. Definitely English. Biscuity malt underneath.
Flavours are completely malt-dominated. There's the slightest hint of resiny hops, but otherwise the sweet crystal and nutty/cookie dough malt dominated. Simple, yet so delicious! Restrained bitterness makes for incredibly easy drinking.
Good creamy mouthfeel.
Wasn't expecting anything this good. This beer isn't exactly the best example of the style, but it is damn satisfying.

Appearance - Huge head, amber, very good retention.

Smell - Very strong for the style, with a caramel and malt character.

Taste - Very sweet and malty, not much hops, but still amazingly well balanced.

Mouthfeel - Low carbonation, fairly smooth, a little sticky.

Drinkability - While the low strength is a little disappointing, it does make it very drinkable.

Overall - A very pleasant surprise for me. Simply an excellent beer.

Appearance - 3.5
Pours a glorious domed beige head that peaks a good three fingers above the top of the liquid. Hazy amber in colour with lots of small suspended particles.

Smell - 3.5
Soft and pleasant, ripe fruit and vanilla toffee.

Taste - 3.5
Quite yeasty in a Coopers sort of way, with strong fruity esters that suggest the beer is past expiry (no evidence on the bottle). Soft fruit suggests of apple and pear, toffeeish malt and metallic hops. In the end yeastiness is too much and lets the beer down.

Mouthfeel - 3.0
Fine, lively, approaching creamy carbonation is atypical to the style.

Drinkability - 2.5
The English Pale Ale is a great session beer style, but I would not describe this as a sessionable beer.

OVERALL - 3.35
Flawed, but overall not a bad beer. Tasty and worth trying, but definitely more of an Australian Pale Ale, despite its claim to be an EPA. I'd say this is more like Coopers Sparkling Ale than anything else I've tried before.

This pours amber coloured with a good sized head that is persistent.

The nose is fruity and this continues to the palate. A mouthfull of flavours dominated by a nice blast of hops.

A slight bitterness gives a edge to the mouthfeel.

Still... nothing exciting.

This beer tasted a little like unfermented wort. Presented ok in the glass, but the taste, smell and mouthfeel were all non existent - starchy if an anything. There was something wrong with this beer. Im sure its normally better (I hope).

Sorry for the harsh review but something was seriously a miss here. It was poured out.

Somewhat flat and headless beer .
The small and flavour seemed to be dominated by the Fuggles hops which just seemed a little harsh to me.The malts were very much in the background and didnt balance out the overall harshness of the ale.
It had a pleasant mouthfeel and whilst it seemed to be a bit crude it is still an enjoyable beer.
Drink with matured chedar cheese and pickled onions

This pours a bronze colour (funny that) with a mid-sized head that falls away quite quickly.
The smell wasn't domiated by anything in particular. Just a nice balance of maltiness and hoppiness that seems to be true to style & in line with the bottle blurb.
The taste was similar to to smell with some buttery notes present
Mouthfeel was a bit lackluster for my personal taste. A bit more maltiness to give it a fuller mouthfeel would be good.
A drinkable beer that as I've already said seems pretty true to style. I think I'd drink their blond over this as a session beer.
Overall another decent beer from a true micro.

On a side note I've also had this on cask at Lambsgo and it seemed a lot better. I'll be going there soon to compare.

ive been waiting a looong time for the bronze one to appear, and at the beer awards on friday night, there it was. boy oh boy did i hit it hard. the wait was worth it all the way. came as advertised, which only impressed me more. there is some room for improvement, but as it is now, with the first barrels out there for consumption, its a winner.

as you'd expect, a bronze color, that was a little cloudy, not alot of fizz, but has a good thick white head. smell was marvellous. sweet biscuits, nuts, hints of malt, and some very spritzy fuggles hops all coming to the party. the taste was smooth and sweet, great malt presence, splashes of dried fruit and nuts and a slightly buttery tone, and a great floral hop flavor. lacked a little bitterness on the back palate, but not by much. still fairly dry and hoppy, but does need just a little bit more.

totally awesome first up effort with this brew. im looking forward to seeing it evolve even further as time goes on. as i said, needs a touch more hops (maybe a blast of kent goldings or bullet in there as well?) but as it stands now, im still a believer!
