Hmmm - was excited about this one as I love an alt and we don't get many here in Aust. However I was little dissappionted. Nice slightly noble nose. However this one is all about the metal. Copper, silver and a bit of aluminium on the palate. Slight malt on the mildly bitter finish. This beer is not worth the $15 I paid for a 500ml bottle.

Gorgeously coloured, a bright, mahogany-tinged bronze. Great clarity in the body. Carbonation looks excessive however, shooting up in anarchic streams and feeding an overly frothy off-white head. Minimal body to the brew, and again, it looks ridiculously overcarbed, but the colour and clarity are excellent.
Nose is sharp with metallic hop characters, giving a herbal, almost medicinal brightness, that mingles with the exploding carbonation to give a hint of acidity. A little sweetness sitting behind it, but minimal. Not bad.
Taste is better. Really restrained and refined malt on the palate, giving touches of subtle grain balanced with a leafy noble hop character on the back and a touch of that metal again. Hint of smoke on the finish gives it a more rustic tone. Feel is light and sparkling, but not as bloating or gassy as the carbonation suggested.
Not a bad brew, if a pretty mild and unadventurous one. Captures some of the characteristics of the style pretty well, and it's pretty sippable.

This brew pours a interesting see through bronze hue with decent carbonation that leaves behind a frothy two finger head and lacing here and there, the smell is bready malts, melons, white fruity wine and toffee apples,it has a mediium bodied well carbonated mouthfeel and has tastes of bread pudding, raisins, white grapes and is finished with a fruit bread sticky dryness and overall its alright without being great cheers.

This pours a dark amber with a huge fluffy off white head. High carbonation visible with constant tiny bubbles. Good looking beer.
This is incredibly closed when it's cold but given a chance to warm up I get some dark fruits and a little apple on the nose. Guessing these are from the yeast. Getting a little graininess.
Similar palate. The tartness is a bit high for mine.
Full bodied with a high carbonation.
Nice enough but doesn't have that much appeal for me.

This beer looks great. Clear, deep copper colour just like it should have with a thick, fluffy white head. Great head retention. Basically nothing wrong.
Really big, sharp, gooseberry, green grape and lemon aroma with mild green apple. Lots of fruit with very soft malt. This is a bit out of place and the exceptional fruitiness just isn't right for style. Nonetheless, it is enjoyable.
Smooth malt supports a rich fruity palate. Much like in the aroma the fruit here is out of place in the levels that we have. Lots of crisp, sharp fresh fruit which dominates the otherwise great malt flavour.
Medium-light body with moderately-high carbonation. A bit less carbonation would be good here.
A tasty, delicious ale with plenty to like but the flavour doesn't quite work for an altbier. Great beer, just not to style.

Pours dark amber with a small head.
Nose shows sweet nutty malt, some caramel and a little banana. Quite light.
Flavours include more of the same, but then its all taken over by solvent-like alcohol.
Carbonation is kept moderate, suits the beer well.
Good try at an obscure style but not quite working.

Cheers to chrism86 for the sample of this one.
Pours a dull, brownish-amber colour with lotso fizz. Head is off-white, bubbly and sinks to a thin whispy ring of foam. Lace is sticky and decent. Kind of looks like ginger ale with lacing; a bit meh.
Smells quite grainy with an underlying phenolic note. Kind of tart with a fruit tinge and some mild gingerbread spice. Overall a bit of a generic aroma, but enjoyable enough.
Taste fills the mouth. Lots of caramelised malt on the front with tinges of toffee and some red delicious apple that gets more phenolic midway, then finishes with light dry grain notes. Decent overall but feels a bit unbalanced midway, where the slight phenolic yeast notes get stronger and drain away some of the grainy flavour.
Mouthfeel is quite full with a nice tingle. Good German texture; frothy but not overblown.
Overall a decent drop, but it strikes me as having sacrificed the smooth balance of the blond without adding a whole heap of rich complexities. Worth a drink though.
