Lucky Lager was introduced to beer drinkers in 1934. The name Lucky was selected from a name-search contest. Fully fermented, Lucky Lager uses select ingredients and hops to deliver a remarkably clean, crisp-tasting beer.

A vigorous pour into a glass mug. One finger bubbly white head on a clear yellow. The head soon disappeared.

Tastes of corn with an unpleasant metallic aftertaste.

Light body with medium carbonation. Drinkability is limited due to the unpleasant flavour.

Typical pale appearance, but better head retention than other standard fare. Smells of grain, slight hop aroma. Taste is more complex than the smell lets on, reminds me of Coors Banquet. Fuller than a Canadian/Blue or other lagers in that tier.

Worth getting for $5/pint

Whether you love or hate it, Labatt sure stepped on it. It's not the good old beer it once was.

Usually, it is the cheapest beer in the store, which is the first indication of its quality. In simple terms... 99% of the people who tried it prefer beer, any bee but that one ever again.

Amazingly good beer, not at all like the Lucky in the black label can.
Much better than Coors banquet!

Have you been looking for a refreshing beverage to chug back after a long day of back breaking work? Or searching for that perfect drink to slam one after another while beating on your $500 truck excessively?

Then Lucky Lager is the beer for you!
Once you crack open a fresh 24 case of these beauty's you'll be hooked! No point in getting a 6 pack or 12 case, the flavor is the best after 13.

But there's more, after that 24 case of brewery splooge doesn't satisfy your thirst Lucky Lager has done something incredible...

A 36 case of Lucky's! After that you should be happy and calling around for all your "brothers". Enjoy!

Lucky is not the term I would use to describe anything about this beer. The thing I remember clearly about it was the smell when you opened the can. Looking back, maybe the beer was passed it. It tasted just as bad as it smelled. Will rank it poor instead if terrible because I did drink the entire 6 pack.

I want to know if this is the same Lucky Lager that we used to be able to buy here in the states. Or is it just a different beer with the same name? I can't get it here in california so my Rating is just place holders so I can ask the question.

This looks like the old stuff, yellow, faint, soapy white head, just real straw yellow sadness. Aroma was corn in a metal can.

Taste again imparted a lot of metal, sweet corn breath. Lots of water. A lot of carbonation and unidentified hop acids. Look there is hipster retro kitcsh, but this is taking it a bit too far.

I will grapple with thee. My old arch nemesis: Lucky Lager. I first discovered this beer from a friend's father who was/is (?) a pipe fitter who works up in the Territories for half the year. My first actual taste of it came during a camping trip in which three of us, including myself, found ourselves single after some long, long relationships which ultimately ended in heartbreak, menthol cigarettes and plenty of crappy beer. We ended up with hypothermia and stomach ulcers after that weekend. Did again next year with Mountain Crest. No, these stories are not embellished or falsified. Anyway, back to the beer. Lucky is a favorite of the BC hippy, nature-nut, free spirit tree huggers who migrate a province over and weep thankful liberal tears as they discover their "Vancouver Island Beer" is still available here in Alberta.

All in all, it's crap. I do not disagree with the score here on BA. Watery, tasteless, yellow liquid from BC. That said, nothing good really comes out of BC anyway, so it's probably not the beer's fault. No smell really. Hint of malt, but besides that it's basically a beer you keep for the in-laws you hate.

Honestly, I think beer drinkers have gotten a little too snooty these days. The staple beers of out father's now languish in mediocrity while 21 year old hipsters go around thinking they own the world of beer reviewing. This is where lucky lager comes in, legendary in my home town this is honestly a reasonable beer and I think it's safe to say it is often better than some of its contemporaries. Now it's certainly not a 5 star but it has its perks a) it's cheap and b) it goes down smooth. So why not take a chance on an old classic huh, who knows you might get lucky.
