Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: Todd on 10-22-2001

Labatt Blue Light was introduced in 1983 as a lower-alcohol, lower-calorie version of Canada’s most popular brand. Blue Light uses specially selected North American aromatic hops and the same strain of lager yeast as the one used to produce Labatt Blue. The result is a crisp, clean and delicately balanced beer, with a slight sweetness and citrus-like hop character.

A: The beer is crystal clear light yellow in color and has a moderate to high amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of adjunct malts are present in the nose—rice seems to stand out in particular.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of adjunct malts with notes of rice and hints of corn. Faint bits of sweetness are perceptible.
M: It feels light-bodied and quite watery on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer goes down easily, but only because it is mostly water and the adjunct flavors aren't too strong.

During a hurried stop at a supermarket on my way home, felt like picking up an inexpensive 24 oz. beer. I had bought Blue Light years ago before I discovered craft beer. Paid .99 for it, and am not going to rate it against a $14.99 4 pack beer.

We all know what light beers look like, so I won't bother with that. I did get a weird soapy taste with the beer. Flavor was below average, and disappointed me even at the .99 price point. While not a horrible beer, will not buy again anytime soon, maybe in desperation someday.

Pours a nice golden color with thick head. Smells like the standard fermented corn. Not much flavor, like watered down labatts. Kinda dry going down. Not many redeeming qualities here.

Looks clear and clean like any adjunct. Smells like nothing. Tastes like most other in its class but a little more funk. Standard carbonation.

If I'm session drinking with friends I'm not opposed to drinking macro adjunct beers occasion. But even then, this would be low on my list of said beers.

Not sure why everyone hates this beer but it's probably because I am a woman that I love this beer so much. It is light and flavorful. Could drink this anywhere, anytime. Easy to drink and doesn't make me feel as full as other beers. Would not recommend eating this with food since I don't think it would bring out many flavors. Perfect for tailgating or spending a day watching sports at an arena. Would highly recommend this for women.

Labatt Blue Light brewed by Labatt Brewing Company Ltd., with an ABV of 4.00% This brew pours out a light amber color, with a small with head. The smell is bold with flavors, you pick up on grains and malts. There is a also a hit of sweetness in the smell of this brew. Now for the taste it is mild with flavors, you pick up on grains and malts. Labatt Blue Light dose have the watery taste that most light brews have. It is not bad. The mouthfeel is rich ,bold and smooth. I like how smooth Labatt Blue Light is. There is nothing overpowering about Labatt Blue Light, it has a nice balance to it. This is a light brew that has a decent taste to it. Overall I'm giving Labatt Blue Light a 3.5 out of 5. I would buy this brew again.

24oz can from Market Basket, I guess because it was a buck.
Pale yellow with a bubbly white head. Faint bready crackery malt and spicy floral hops. Hint of metallic. Not exactly horrible, in fact passable on a hot day, but horribly bland.

LIGHT BEER - good solid one at that. Certainly not Awfu.. however it is a drinking beer, some of you might not know what that is.. for when you drink a bunch of beers . some may hype it up with the term "session" ..... no surprises on this canadian mass market favorite. easier than Miller Lite, less sweet, same for the nasty silver one . more flavor than Budlight, less carbonation, no joke great Sat Sun afternoon beer when in bonus time. i.e. Daytime Hockey Playoffs ... also got a free hockey stick opener.

DATE TASTED: January 18, 2015... GLASSWARE: Hennepin pokal ... OCCASION: Seahawks/Packers--what an ending... APPEARANCE: clear, golden body that releases sparse bubbles; off-white hand sloughs off to an uneven quarter-inch; soapy lacing... AROMA: some fragrant hops suggest a somewhat sophisticated premium lager; however, doughy malts make clear the beer's style... PALATE: reasonably, light, oily and watery consistency; highly drinkable and cleansing; as beers go, quite weak...TASTE: light hops tease faintly as flowers; malts suggest some beefy dough, but as expected, a lukewarm offering...OVERALL: perfect for a day of mindless drinking only, this is too weak to pair with food and not worth sessioning...

Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: Boulevard Ales pint glass
From: My brother
Price: N/A
Purchased: N/A
Consumed: July 26, 2014
Misc.: N/A

Poured a pale, clear color with two fingers of bubbly white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom. Minimal spots of lacing on the sides of the glass. Average-to-below average retention on the top all the way down.

Smelled corn, skunky malts, pilsner notes, honey, grass and cereal.

Tasted similar to the nose. Got honey, corn malts, sourdough bread, grass, cereal, light banana and faint Circus Peanuts.

Light body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, somewhat skunky finish. Somewhat refreshing.

Not a bad American Adjunct Lager, but not great.

Don't usually drink light beer but this was Labatt, and I liked their suds as a lad.

A - Straw. Nice head that dies quickly. Minor lacing

S - No smell

T - Some light corn and a little hops.

M - Light

O - Hops made it somewhat enjoyable. This is better than MCB light beer, but I'm not buying this one again.

Appearance: Light golden color and clear. Small to medium head that dissipates very quickly.

Smell: Maybe some malt.... All I can really smell is water.

Taste: It is a smooth and very easy to drink beer. Pretty bland with a somewhat sweet taste. It is very thin tasting and clearly watery.

Overall: Its clearly an average beer at best. During college I drank quite a few labatt blue lights and enjoyed them. My appreciation for beer has changed now though and I would consider this beer nothing special but something I will drink when on special when I am out for dinner.

24oz can for about $2.50. Had straight from the can, so I'll skip the appearance -- based on what I've seen in pictures, it looks pretty blah.

Smell: A very faint grain and corn sweetness. Nothing skunky or off-putting, but there's not much going on.

Taste: Almost like nothingness... honestly. Really does drink like carbonated water, but there's a slight bit of grains and corn sweetness... VERY slight. I don't think I've had a beer with such little flavor. There's nothing off about it at least, which makes it really drinkable. Extremely light, but pleasant with its slightly sweet flavor.

No hops to taste, no malt flavors that you'd TYPICALLY get in a craft beer... just a mild cereal grain flavor, with corn, and subtle sweetness. It costs a bit more than a made-in-America adjunct lager, and it tastes basically the same. Still, I think I'd choose a Labatt Light over a Bud Light, Coors Light, or even Miller Lite.

When I had Labatt Blue light it was on tap at a bar. The coloring was a light yellow/clear and I had the aroma of corn in it for sure and a little malty. The taste was a little blan probably because it was light and not just Labatt Blue. It was also medium carbonated.

From my next door neighbor.

Poured from a can into a mug, served at fridge temp.

yellow with 1 finger white head that disappears. No lacing.

aroma hops & yeast.

mouthfeel: thin

taste: malt with some corn sweetness, not much hops. Faint mustiness on the aftertaste.

notes: this is product. weak, insip, boring. hated it. Amazingly this beer sells like crazy here in Rochester which makes no sense as Genny is much better, and a lot cheaper.

This one pours a clear yellow, basically looks like water. Looks quite fizzy.

Smells metallic, and like not much else. Maybe some creamed corn.

Tastes metallic too, and maybe a little like creamed corn. It's kind of grainy, but the carbonation takes over the flavor, it's all you get. It's honestly like really gross metallic seltzer.

This one is really light bodied, with a very high level of carbonation.

A very clear straw color. Looks like a light ginger ale.

honey malt and lots of corn and a starchy aroma. Almost has a wax smell to it like an unscented candle.

Very sweet with a little bit of corn. Sort of like frosted flakes with a tiny bit of hop flavoring thrown in.

Very light feel. Watery and high carbonation like soda.

For a major light lager, it's not bad compared to some of the others. It lacks flavor. Just mostly sweet and light.

A - Average see through yellow with a massive white frothy head. Left little lacing.

S - Corn, rice, malt. Less than most light lagers.

T - Light corn, seltzer water, slight malt

M - Heavy carbonation with a medium body

O - Overall, this was a less than standard light lager that I wouldn't buy again. You can get a " Value Pack " at Kroger which consists of twenty cans for eleven dollars. This is something that you bring to a party for everyone else, That way nobody asks for ( And usually wastes ) your good beer.

Labatt Blue Light is exactly that -- light. Much like other macrobrew light beers, there isn't much of anything to speak of. Very little flavor (some grains, corn maybe) which is overpowered by carbonated crispiness. The beer has a faint grain/wheat smell, it's incredibly thin bodied, and is extremely clear in color with a soft yellow hue. No head retention - but most of the time you're not drinking this for it's appearance, taste, or smell. You're drinking this because it's cheap and you want beer.

Marginally better than a Bud Light, but still, this is probably closer to water than it is to beer. Not much happening at all.

Labatt Blue Light has a thick, white head and a clear, bubbly straw appearance, with minimal lacing left behind. The aroma is light, sweet malt and sugar. Taste is of lightly-roasted barley malt, sugar, sweet grains, and just the slightest touch of hops. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Labatt Blue Light finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and dry. This is an exceptional light beer.

I love this beer. It is affordable and gets the job done when needed. I live in Tennessee and am happy to find it at my local Krogers now. I used to only get it when visiting family in Michigan. The thing I love about going up north is that in the winter, we leave the beer outside and it is the perfect temperature. I love it when it is slushy.

as the crappy light mass market stuff goes, i dont hate this in a bottle thats ice cold. drafts and cans of this are almost intolerable, but the bottle can work on a hot day out in the boat or something. golf course maybe. pours watery pale yellow like so many beers like this do, decent head though. smells like basically nothing, just some weak generic malts. flavor is refreshing at least, but it has nothing intersting to call out. quick snappy finish probably helps it sell as well as it does. mouthfeel is very light and a little too carbonated, but i will give it high marks for drinkability. overall its a step up from a budlight, but so is everything. only when i have to...

Poured from can into glass.

Appearance: Almost clear. Slight hint of yellow. Too much light white head that lasted seconds with heavy lacing on the glass.

Smell: Almost no smell. Maybe some sugars and alcohol.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Very light bodied and drank like water. Hints of some malts and other grains...maybe rice. Alcohol taste was the strongest flavor and that was light.

Overall: To be honest, do not care for this beer. However I could enjoy it on a very hot day with no other drink available.

Pours clear pale yellow with a small white head with poor retention. Smells somewhat like corn and like nothing else. Talk about bland.

Tastes somewhat like corn and grain, but mostly like water. Why bother to make this? Why did I bother to drink this left over beer flavored water?

Thin bodied, average carbonation. Doesn't have much in the way of aroma, taste, or character. A failure of a beer in about every way possible.

Reviewed from notes.

Served in a bottle at Admiral's Club at YYZ (Toronto, ON)

A: Pours a crystal clear pale yellow with a moderate amount of visible carbonation. The beer has a half finger tall fizzy white head that reduces to a thin patch and thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate lacing is observed.

S: Very sweet aromas of adjunct malts - including both grains and corn - along with a very light hint of hops.

T: Again, the flavor follows the smell of this beer... Light flavors of adjunct malts featuring both sweet grains and malts. There are some slightly skunky hints to the flavor of this beer and a light hop bitterness in the finish.

M: Served extremely cold, the mouthfeel was very light and thin/watery with a moderate amount of carbonation.

O: Very light an easy to drink and refreshing when it is really cold. Sessionable but not a beer that I'm going to go back to often - maybe best served when fishing. Definitely recommend drinking this beer when it is very cold.
