Pours a moderately sized head, quick to dissipate. Color is an incredibly light, clear yellow.
Smell is semi malty, but to be honest, isn't much to pick up on.
First sip is super light. It's carbonic in taste and keeps you wondering when the actual body of the beer will show itself...except it never really does. It just kind of dissipates into a shallow malty aftertaste that reminds you "yes, I'm drinking beer and not just carbonated colored water"
Perhaps I should admit at this point that previously, one of my latest reviews has been Dogfish Head's 120 Minute IPA, a real whopper of a beer, not just in alcohol content, but in sheer complexity of flavor and robustness. Blue Light isn't an IPA, it isn't really even a Pilsner. To paraphrase Popeye, "It is what it is, and that's all that it is." It's a light lager, sold in portion sizes that are large at prices that are low.
If you're looking for Fillet Mignon quality beef, you don't go to McDonalds for their burgers. Similarly, if you're looking for an absolutely astonishing beer, you probably won't go to Labatt for their beer. But it is palatable, and it is considered a beer. So if you ever feel short on cash and want to continue your enjoyment of brewed beverage, then I may recommend you try this tasty beverage.
God help any of you with real money who choose this over real beer.
