Labatt Blue Light was introduced in 1983 as a lower-alcohol, lower-calorie version of Canada’s most popular brand. Blue Light uses specially selected North American aromatic hops and the same strain of lager yeast as the one used to produce Labatt Blue. The result is a crisp, clean and delicately balanced beer, with a slight sweetness and citrus-like hop character.

Not sure why everyone hates this beer but it's probably because I am a woman that I love this beer so much. It is light and flavorful. Could drink this anywhere, anytime. Easy to drink and doesn't make me feel as full as other beers. Would not recommend eating this with food since I don't think it would bring out many flavors. Perfect for tailgating or spending a day watching sports at an arena. Would highly recommend this for women. (443 characters)

Labatt Blue Light has a thick, white head and a clear, bubbly straw appearance, with minimal lacing left behind. The aroma is light, sweet malt and sugar. Taste is of lightly-roasted barley malt, sugar, sweet grains, and just the slightest touch of hops. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Labatt Blue Light finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and dry. This is an exceptional light beer.

When I had Labatt Blue light it was on tap at a bar. The coloring was a light yellow/clear and I had the aroma of corn in it for sure and a little malty. The taste was a little blan probably because it was light and not just Labatt Blue. It was also medium carbonated. (268 characters)

LIGHT BEER - good solid one at that. Certainly not Awfu.. however it is a drinking beer, some of you might not know what that is.. for when you drink a bunch of beers . some may hype it up with the term "session" ..... no surprises on this canadian mass market favorite. easier than Miller Lite, less sweet, same for the nasty silver one . more flavor than Budlight, less carbonation, no joke great Sat Sun afternoon beer when in bonus time. i.e. Daytime Hockey Playoffs ... also got a free hockey stick opener. (522 characters)

I love this beer. It is affordable and gets the job done when needed. I live in Tennessee and am happy to find it at my local Krogers now. I used to only get it when visiting family in Michigan. The thing I love about going up north is that in the winter, we leave the beer outside and it is the perfect temperature. I love it when it is slushy. (345 characters)

Labatt Blue Light brewed by Labatt Brewing Company Ltd., with an ABV of 4.00% This brew pours out a light amber color, with a small with head. The smell is bold with flavors, you pick up on grains and malts. There is a also a hit of sweetness in the smell of this brew. Now for the taste it is mild with flavors, you pick up on grains and malts. Labatt Blue Light dose have the watery taste that most light brews have. It is not bad. The mouthfeel is rich ,bold and smooth. I like how smooth Labatt Blue Light is. There is nothing overpowering about Labatt Blue Light, it has a nice balance to it. This is a light brew that has a decent taste to it. Overall I'm giving Labatt Blue Light a 3.5 out of 5. I would buy this brew again. (738 characters)

look: 2.5 | smell: 2.5 | taste: 3 | feel: 3 | overall: 5

Appearance:
Poured into a pint glass the beer looks like vinegar. There is a minor head but it vanishes in seconds.

Smell:
Stale wet bread is the first thing that comes to mind, but it's also very reminisent of the dreaded Saturday morning after party urinal scent. There's actually underlying hop notes, but for the most part this beer just smells kind of like morning after.

Taste and Mouthfeel:
The beer is super light as is indicated on the can. It's pretty crisp with minor wheat notes. It doesn't necesarilly taste bad but it doesn't taste like much of anything. There's a terrible beer aftertaste which is my major gripe with macro lager. There just isn't really much to say about how this beer tastes or feels without getting blatantly mean so I'll hold my tongue for now.

Drinkability:
Once you get a good buzz going and look past the lack of flavor you could probably drink about 20 of these. Would you want to? I know I wouldn't. There's only so much urination I can handle in an evening.

Bottom Line:
Surprisingly better then other macro lager beers, but I'll stick with my PBR or Schlitz when money gets tight. (1,140 characters)

Batty Blue Light
Big Can
Recent brewing, happened 11/06
Medium pour in a shaker

Poured a clear bland yellow with a large frothy mostly diminishing white head.

Smelt of moderate cooked corn and grain.

Taste was upfront moderate sweet fruit-like hops (orange, apricots) and light flour biscuits followed by a moderate bittersweet fruit flower hoppiness. Palate was light bodied, watery, fizzy.

Overall, as far as light lagers go, this is surprisingly tasty. That's all I got. (488 characters)

Labatt Blue is a Buffalo favorite. If you were to walk into any bar in Buffalo your sure to find Labatt Blue or Blue Light on tap or in bottles. Labatt Blue Light pours a pale yellow color with a big foamy white head. It has good carbonation and clarity. The aroma and flavor is similar to regular Labatt Blue but lighter. The aroma has rice cereal malts and grassy straw like hops in the nose. The flavor has light sweet cereal malts up front that turn dry with a crisp citrusy bitter finish. "Blue Light" is light bodied, thin and a highly drinkable Canadian pilsner. It's a great beer for watching hockey [GO SABRES] and calories. It also pairs well with a traditional Buffalo style fish fry. (695 characters)

This beer pours a clear very pale straw color. The head is a quarter inch of foam which recedes within seconds to almost no lacing. The aroma is rather lively for a light lager. It has some nice mildly sweet malty tones to it. The taste again is quite bodl for the style. The is a nice sweetness that I would expect from a adjunct lager. The mouthfeel is light bodied with solid carbonation. It is nice that the carbonation isn't extra high the way it is in most beers of this style. Overall, this is one of the better light lagers I've tasted, and I could drink it again. (572 characters)

This beer had a light gold appearance. It was highly carbonated with a short head the did not last long.

It had a faint smell not different from many other light beers.

The taste was crisper than most macro lights, with a less sweet taste.

It felt a watery with a lot of carbonation.

Labatt Blue Light was easy to consume. It was a nice change from drinking just the regular American macro lights. I would suggest it to someone who did not feel like buying the regular old twelve pack they do every weekend. (520 characters)

It pours the transparent golden yellow color that one would expect. There is an airy, pure white head that rises to the top at first. A minute or 2 later the beer takes on an awful look. The head dissapears, and I cant find a single bubble in it if I try. It really begins to look like a glass of piss.

The scent is fine. Quite a lot better than other beers of its style. Not bready at all, which is a nice relief.

It tastes good considering the style. It really reminds me a of a pilsener, almost like a version of a german pilsener without the overwhelming skunky flavor. Tastes crisp and is quite refreshing. A little watery, but it must be nearly impossible to avoid that when brewing a light beer.

The mouthfeel is light as expected, and is a touch on the flat side, but nothing terrible. Drinkability is average.

In the grand scheme of beer, this might not be much, but it excells when compared to beers of its class. (935 characters)

Blue Light displays a crystal-clear straw gold body beneath an average sized head of bright white foam that holds fairly well given the style, and leaves some nice rings of lace dripping back into the glass. The nose is surprisingly hoppy for a light beer as well, with notes of floral, spicy, and even lightly herbal hops. It's a little fuller in the mouth, with a medium-light body and delicately bristling pinpoint carbonation that softens to become creamy-smooth. Hops return in the flavor, and it's much nicer than the hop-less, thin and dry light beers so common in the United States. The malt balances it well, and it finishes with some lingering spicy and floral character. Well done! (692 characters)

24 oz can, 2 for $3, couldn't pass it up, that's $4.50 a six pack if you have your calculator out. Not your typical Canadian brew this is only 4% ABV and not the regular 5% ABV. Let's give it a whirl. This brew has a sweet Euro lager smell of spritzy hops. Pours to a pale yellow with a thin white head. Taste is consistent with the Euro lager smell. Very sweet and light with only a slight twinge of earthy hops evident. Mouthfeel is very thin but it isn't watery per se and that should be in line for a light lager. For the price you can get this for its a macro bargain and not at all offensive. It's not bold but it is quite drinkable. This is a lawnmower beer extraordinaire. (680 characters)

At a family function, a few of these lingered amongst other cooler macs. Ya, I'll bite.
It was actually pretty good on a nice summers day.
It poured a pale yellow clear straw wth a fizz abit and away white head.
The aroma was alittle corn like, alittle metalic like.
Taste was semi-sweet corn malt, a hint of hop, alittle grass & metal. Overall though the mouthfeel was crisp, clean, slight dryness but rather refreshing. At 4.0% on the abv, that aids the drinkability of this light (better than most other lite's) beer. (524 characters)

The beer pours an almost clear color with a faint tint of yellow. The head is white and frothy, but gone quickly. The aroma is a little above average. It has a very light feel with mostly pale malt and adjunct aroma. There is little hop scent. The taste is above average. It has a refreshing, light flavor with little malts or hops, but a clean, dry finish. The mouthfeel is decent. It is an extremely low bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a decent light beer. It is drinkable on hot days or at a party. There's not much to brag about, but it's not bad enough to bitch about. (584 characters)

I don't get why this beer has so many bad reviews its your average light lager nothing about it is off.

A - It pours a clear straw color with a white head that trys to leave spotty lacing

S - Has a light smell of grainy malt

T - Not much going on here a light malt taste

M - This beer has a light body with medium high carbonation to it

D - This is one of those beers thats made to be easy to drink where you don't have to think about all the flavors and smells you just drink it and watch some hockey. (508 characters)

24oz can (99¢ special) served in a pilsner glass.

L - light yellow color with a decent sized white head that remained for a while being fueled by tiny bubbles.

S - grainy with a hint of earthy sourness.

T - light and grainy tasting with a sour/bitterness on the finish.

F - lighter bodied with plenty of snap in the carbonation department.

O - an average light beer. (372 characters)

Looks clear and clean like any adjunct. Smells like nothing. Tastes like most other in its class but a little more funk. Standard carbonation.

If I'm session drinking with friends I'm not opposed to drinking macro adjunct beers occasion. But even then, this would be low on my list of said beers. (298 characters)

I tried this at a friend's house and was actually quite impressed.

A - Clear golden macro lager yellow. Minimal head and lace. Boring.

S - Slightly hoppy, but mostly watery. Better than most macros.

T - Wow. this actually has some nice character. the hops are definitely more powerful than American macro lagers, and it's really sweet too. This is noting to get excited about, but for alight lager it actually has some flavor.

M - Light bodied and crisp with a nice off-dry finish. Hops are noticeable in the aftertaste.

D- For a light lager, this has quite a bit of flavor. It's nothing to write home about, but I'd take this over BMC any day. (649 characters)

Poured a pale yellow color with moderate white head. Poor retention and no lacing.

Smells like any light lager.

Very sharp flavor and body. Not bad actually, decent flavor for a light beer.

Appearance - Clear light gold. Small white head that lingers. Bubbly. It might be the light, but looks a little green.

Smell - Little bit of sweet malt aroma. Not really distinguishable from other macro lights.

Taste - Not as sweet as most macro lights. Dry and crisp. Light malty taste with just the tiniest hoppy aftertaste. Nothing complicated about this beer, but I like it better than the supersweet macrobrews of BMC

Mouthfeel - Dry and tangy. Clean. Watery. Average.

Drinkability - I like the taste a little better than most macrolights. But not enough to pay a few extra dollars a six pack. And it's Imported daily from Canada. wow. (652 characters)

Pours a clear, pale yellow. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of a yeast cleanliness, tart malt, and some metallic - adjunct aromas. Fits the style of a Light Lager. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, metallic - adjunct, and slight pale malt. Smooth overall, slightly better than average light lager. (389 characters)
