Notes/Commercial Description:
Labatt Blue Light was introduced in 1983 as a lower-alcohol, lower-calorie version of Canada’s most popular brand. Blue Light uses specially selected North American aromatic hops and the same strain of lager yeast as the one used to produce Labatt Blue. The result is a crisp, clean and delicately balanced beer, with a slight sweetness and citrus-like hop character.

From my next door neighbor.

Poured from a can into a mug, served at fridge temp.

yellow with 1 finger white head that disappears. No lacing.

aroma hops & yeast.

mouthfeel: thin

taste: malt with some corn sweetness, not much hops. Faint mustiness on the aftertaste.

notes: this is product. weak, insip, boring. hated it. Amazingly this beer sells like crazy here in Rochester which makes no sense as Genny is much better, and a lot cheaper.

Defines what I dislike about light beers. Pours out very light yellow, almost watery which carries over to the flavour. While I dislike normal Blue, the light version washes even more of the flavour away, no scent to speak of either.

Extremely thin in the mouth as well of course, and altogether unenjoyable to drink, so that category gets the basement rating as well.

I understand that these "light" beers have a bit of a following here in the States, but I wouldn't drink one of these if it was offered to me with a bribe attached. Utter crap.

A fairly pale urine yellow color and crystal clear with zero head. Scent is very faint. Just some adjunct sweetness is really all I can pick up. Taste is awful and there is no freshness date on the can. Unfortunately, this is a 24oz. can so I've got about ten ounces to go after polishing off the first glass. Taste has the sweetness of corn and a touch of honey. I'm glad this is watered down, because I'd have a hard time stomaching a stronger version of this particular taste. I'll not be revisiting this.

I guess after the Labatt bear finishes the regular Labatt's, he produces this. It is very light, with no taste. Take away the carbonation, amd it would be just runoff. This stuff is just plain awefull.

It pours the transparent golden yellow color that one would expect. There is an airy, pure white head that rises to the top at first. A minute or 2 later the beer takes on an awful look. The head dissapears, and I cant find a single bubble in it if I try. It really begins to look like a glass of piss.

The scent is fine. Quite a lot better than other beers of its style. Not bready at all, which is a nice relief.

It tastes good considering the style. It really reminds me a of a pilsener, almost like a version of a german pilsener without the overwhelming skunky flavor. Tastes crisp and is quite refreshing. A little watery, but it must be nearly impossible to avoid that when brewing a light beer.

The mouthfeel is light as expected, and is a touch on the flat side, but nothing terrible. Drinkability is average.

In the grand scheme of beer, this might not be much, but it excells when compared to beers of its class.

12oz twist off poured into pint glass

A: Golden Yellow with a two finger white head, which disapears with no lacing. Very bubbly and they cling to glass in patches.

S: Wow...Really? I got nothing here. Just Water

T/M: Very little taste, even for a light beer. Very carbonated with a hint of malts and some grain. Mix in some bitterness and dryness and tragically thats it.

D: Light beer at its worst. It has a very very faint heart beat.

cheers

Puors a straw color with a thin, quick receiding head. The smell was not existant with no hints of hops or malt. The taste wasn't so bad. Kind of a grainy taste with the slightest hoppy bitterness. It went down smooth, I'll give it that. I really did enjoy it for a while. A nice beer to bring fishing.

12 oz can

Labatt Blue Light poured a very pale yellow color with "tons" of carbonation, little head and no lacing. Watery body with very [very] low malt flavor and dry body. Very low flavor over all. After all this is a light lager! Another brew that should be consumed cold.

[Macro] Light Lager style is my least favorite style of beer. Labatt Blue Light is not the best light beer or the worst one either.

A - pours a clear pale straw color with a tiny bit of bubbly head that disappears almost immediately and leaves no lacing. Looks ok at first but after about 30 seconds it just looks like urine in a glass
S - soapy sort of smell along with a bit of corn and my nose says I'm picking up yeast somewhere
T - tastes mostly of corn and some rice blandness. very slight skunk in the finish
M - effervescent, over-carbonated, extremely light (watery) body
D - drinkable, and close to water. not much in the taste dept though so why bother?

There was one bottle sitting in my fridge for months and I'm not sure where it came from. I wanted something to drink/review and didn't feel like going out so there it is.

Appearance - Clear light gold. Small white head that lingers. Bubbly. It might be the light, but looks a little green.

Smell - Little bit of sweet malt aroma. Not really distinguishable from other macro lights.

Taste - Not as sweet as most macro lights. Dry and crisp. Light malty taste with just the tiniest hoppy aftertaste. Nothing complicated about this beer, but I like it better than the supersweet macrobrews of BMC

Mouthfeel - Dry and tangy. Clean. Watery. Average.

Drinkability - I like the taste a little better than most macrolights. But not enough to pay a few extra dollars a six pack. And it's Imported daily from Canada. wow.

Batty Blue Light
Big Can
Recent brewing, happened 11/06
Medium pour in a shaker

Poured a clear bland yellow with a large frothy mostly diminishing white head.

Smelt of moderate cooked corn and grain.

Taste was upfront moderate sweet fruit-like hops (orange, apricots) and light flour biscuits followed by a moderate bittersweet fruit flower hoppiness. Palate was light bodied, watery, fizzy.

Overall, as far as light lagers go, this is surprisingly tasty. That's all I got.
