Labatt's "50" has been around longer than I have. It was the slosh of my college days. Drank gallons of it. Awful stuff. Of all the commercial Canadian ales (okeefe, golden, toby, kakabeka, redcap) this is the least like an ale. It actually tates like a slightly bitter lager with lots of carbonation.
Pours a light gold, heads weakly disappearing quickly. Aroma is slightly sour with lots of CO2. Start is crisp and slightly bitter then this full malty taste takes over with a sweet finish.
Is it ale or lager...I dunno but it's great if you like belching.

A - Poured out a hazy straw color with a decent but fleeting head that gave to some lacing.
S - Grains with some cooked cereals.
T - Grain flavor dominates with some faint hop bitterness in the finish.
M - Watery with good carbonation.
O - Disappointing since I can recall this beer being much more heavily hopped many years ago. I wouldn't turn one down, but I don't see myself buying this again as there are better choices in this class for the same money.

Decent sized white head slowly settles into a nice lacing above a clear golden colored beer.
Sour grain malt aroma.
Same sour grain malt taste as in the aroma but not overbearing makes this a easy drinking beer with just that touch of sourness.
A light dry aftertaste with just a little bit of the tastes remaining behind with this light bodied beer.
Seems like another standard light drink.
