341ml bottle poured into a pint glass

A - basic yellow beer colour, nothing special. Small head that was gone quicky

S - a little bit of pungent smell, smells slightly metallic.

T&M - average carbonation, lots taste.. not sure that's a good thing in this case. When I bought this in Newfoundland the locals were making fun of me. "no one here drinks that stuff"

D - It's a beer.. not one that I would have again, but I'm happy I tried it.

I tried this one at Ches's, THE fish'n chip place in St. John's.

A: Yellow with a white head, very little retention or lace.

S: Metallic minerals, peppery spice, slight sweetness.

T: Peppery, metallic, woody spicing, corn, slight hints of biscuity malt.

M: Moderate body, higher than average carbonation, dry finish.

D: This one's alright.

OK this one is india beers (Molson) bastard cousin. Labatts semi famous newfoundland brew is a slightly darker golden colour with a nicer head of pure white snow that does not die so quickly. Aromas are sweet corny adjunct goodness but a bit of malt and hop aroma comes threw as well with some grassy and floral hints suprisingly. Taste is sweet, but totally drinkable, esepcially with some screech in your other hand as they say. Not really a great beer, but better than most mainland macros (molson/labatt/bud/miller/coors) so just drink up or shut up cuz you are on newfoundland time and there is no time to worry!

The best part: poured a beautiful pearly froth of suds on top of a nice rusty gold water. Then the head vanished to a slight lace. I could see huge amounts of carbonation. This beer looks like the beer conjured up for most everyday folks when the word 'beer' is spoken aloud.

Smells of hops, a light grassy aroma.

A crisp mouthfeel. Nothing to write up gloriously.

Tastes of a slight sweet malt, some lemon, some hoppy-round-bitter, but with the usual macro adjuncts. The worst: the aftertaste is not complimentary. It's essentially morning mouth.

Very close to most macros, but marginally better because of the awesome appearance. Not as good as Black Horse in the drinkability department.

Not too shabby. Aroma of an ale with a sense of sweetness. Another beer that many Newfoundlanders call the best. There is some taste to this beer. First developed in the 1930's it is made by Labatts Brewery in St. John's Newfoundland. Has a heavey feel to it but lots of hops. Solid taste - I like it. Then again a maritimer drinks beer like a Newfoundlander - well, sometimes. They say that if you want to drink this you should use a large glass of dark rum in you other hand. Herein lies the confussion. Most people taste beer and are critical. Most who drink Newfy brew have a different attitude. So get a "Jockey Jaws" and some Screech and kick back. Then tell us what and how to drink here on the east coast!
