This is a good little restuarant with a great beer selection. I won't describe it as a pub because the food menu is more extensive and overall of decent quality. I'd recommend the burgers, sandwiches and wings! The beer selection is great. They have about 12 taps of which they rotate 10 with an ever changing craft beer selection. They keep two taps on domestic beers for the Chuds. On any week you might find some beer from Green Flash, Ballast Point, Southern Tier, Pretty Things, Jacks Abbey, or other unique brewerys. They have an extensive listing of bottled beer including many craft brews. Overall I highly recommend Stars for any hungry beer aficionado!

A: A great place. They have blended a family atmosphere with a great selection of craft beers at the bar.
Q: This place is all about ensuring quality. Being in Hingham this feat is not always easy but Stars excels at ensuring their customers have a great experience.
S: Bartenders and servers know the product. Attentive is always key. I was with several people and the bartender took track of what we where drinking and were on top of getting our next round. They even made quality recommendations based on our selections.
S. There is always 16 or so rotating draft lines. They focus on Hoppy during the summer! Always a plus. They usually score some of the harder to get offerings. Double Dose, Parabola to name a few of the most recent. They built their own 'randle'! They brewed a beer with Wormtown. Entitled. A great Ipa. (Leans to be more pale ale)....(Ok, ok, ok....Entitled is not the pale it was once was and screams IPA! A beer born at starz, shooting for the moon!)
F: They have tots! They make the best burger on the South Shore!! They do beer dinners. With chef's at Tosca and Cafe Tosca helping out....Stars beer dinners are always exciting and rewarding!

A definite place on my radar for weekly visits. This place is a must. Whether to catch up with a friend over a few pints, bring a date or to take the family, this place has it all! Keep up the good work.

Another South Shore gem. Between the Union Brewhouse and here, You can easily say they are responsible for the love all things beer on the South Shore!

Kid-friendly with a great beer selection and 16 taps (almost all craft) makes this place my regular dinner destination. First, the beer. Awesome selection of rotating taps keeping everything fresh. Recent (ish) standouts are Double Dose from Otter Creek/Lawsons, MBC Lunch, Stone Enjoy By, Lagunitas Sucks, Nugget Nectar, Dirtwolf, Green Flash's Hop Symposium beers, and there is always good local representation from Jack's Abbey, Sam, Harpoon, Mayflower, and Wormtown. Wormtown actually makes a "house" IPA for them that's always on tap. Food is pretty basic, but quality good. They share ownership with Tosca and Cafe Tosca next door, so you get a little extra quality on things like the Chicken Chipotle BLT, Shortrib Grilled Cheese, and their burgers. They have always made a fantastic clam chowder. Overall great place with a great beer selection.

Hopheads Rejoice! Stars on Hingham Harbor is your south shore destination for craft beers and great food. There are sixteen rotating taps, featuring a wide assortment of beer styles. There's something here for everyone. You'll find some old favorites on draft but you"'ll be pleasantly surprised by the rare beers that you'll find here. The food is excellent. Great salads, sandwiches and entrees. Don't forget to try their creative appetizers (dry rub wings anyone?) Back to business - Did I mention they have a Randall that makes a guest appearance on Thursday nights? Brian, the bar manager, always comes up with some crazy infusions. In addition they have seasonal beer dinners, tap takeovers and tastings. Do yourself and put this on your short list of places to visit!

One of the only places on the south shore with a great selection of beers. Huge bottle list and over 15 drafts. Was in today and had Lawson's / Otter Creeks "Double Dose" on tap! I was also glad to see more local favorites (Jacks Abby) and some west coast favorites (Green Flash). The menu mentioned 'the season of stouts' and listed upcoming stouts on draft, one of which was evil twin's "Yin" which I'm excited to try (and I heard there's a chance "Yang" will be tapped at the same time). Heck, I'll probably go back tomorrow :)

Overall, good hangout spot, good food, good service, great beer.

Stars is a great place to visit for just about everything you want. The breakfast (served 7 days a week) is prob the best around. It is totally family friendly then turns in to a great place to listen to live music on the weekends!
The beer list is extensive with 16 drafts 12 of which rotate constantly. You will find hard to get beers like lunch and double dose on tap and impossible to find like Parabola. They have a Randall they built and always have creative things going through it. Overall the place is a craft beer lovers dream with a knowledgable staff to boot!

Cool location accross from the ocean (Hingham harbor). 16 beers on tap ranging from garbage (Bud, Coors) to the standard local Harppon selection (IPA and UFO) to rotating craft brews (BBC Cabin Fever). Many more than that in bottles with plenty from New England to choose from. The menu is extensive, going well beyond pub fare, and quality well above average. The chowder is exceptional. Service was very good, and the crowd was freindly. HDTV plasmas in bar area, and live music on weekends. I definitely will go back!

Stars has a pretty good selection of beer. They have around eight beers on tap and forty or more bottled. A beer menu is provided with the food menu. From past experience these beers are usually available.
They do rotate some of the draft selections. I was there the other night and they had Sam Adams Double IPA for $1.50 a pint. Pretty decent.
The food is also good. Appetizers include chicken quesidillas, deep fried squid, nachos, chicken fingers etc. There are good burgers, club sandwiches and salads as well as tasty entrees. The prices are very reasonable.
Service is good and fairly prompt considering the usual crowd of people. The servers are knowledgeable about both the food and the beers. They not only know what's on draft but usually have tasted them and can describe them.
There are two sections. One is the bar side where there are tables and booths and bar seating. On the walls are plasma tvs showing sporting events. The other side is a quiter dining area with tables and booths.
Stars also has a "World Wide Beer Club". It's easy to join and you can add more beers to your 'resume' each time you come.. A curious fact is they have Thomas Hardy 1999 and no one in the club likes it.

See update at the end of this review. BrewGuru's review (Hey! I rhymed) is really on the mark, so you can get a very good flavor of Stars with his review. However, it should be mentioned that Stars has a "World Class" Beer Club. You get your own beer list and the bartender/waitress checks off each brew you purchase (there's 50 plus beers on the menu). Now what is utterly perplexing is that they have Thomas Hardy's 1999 on the list. But when you order it, it's a hit or miss proposition. Sometimes they say they're out of it, other times they look at you like you've got two heads. Our waitress informed us that they have a cellar (a CELLAR!!!) full of it because no one orders it, and when they do, the customer claims it's terrible and doesn't finish it or sends it back. This is a "World Class" Beer Club? I have tried to persuade the management to let me remove this terrible beer from their cellar, but state law forbids this type of sale. I will prevail!!!

But, I digress! The food at Stars is pretty good and the beer selection is entertaining enough to get you coming back. It's worth a visit if you're in the area.

Update 12/23/03 - Stars has added 4 - plasma tv screens and have replaced their old florescent lighted beer coolers with state of the art stainless coolers. The beer selection has been improved upon as well. Rogue Arrogant Bastard and DFH Indian Brown IPA are now on tap.
Last, week Genaro and I found SA Double IPA on tap for $1.50 per...sorry, that was a limited time offer.

2nd Edit: Stars has discontinued many of their top quality draught selections as mentioned above, so I'm cutting their selection mark by .5

3rd Edit: 5/25/05 The "World Class" beer selection has once again taken a nosedive. This earns them another -.5 in the Selection mark.
