Pours a murky reddish brown with a one inch tan head that fades to a spotty cap and has only a small amount of lace.

Smell; strong sour nose with hints of lactic acid. There's sour fruitiness (cherries?), as well as a bit of some citrus aromas.

Taste; tart cherries and sour lemon peel, with an acidic bite hammer you at first. After this warms up some a nice oaky flavor mixed with a little malt presence kick in to off set those sour/tart flavors. Mouthfeel is light bodied, and a touch thin, but this is still a very drinkable beer.

This is only my second Flemish Sour Ale, and I find myself really enjoying this style. I'm looking forward to trying some more.

a- bottle poured into a flute, half inch bubbly head, clear tawny walnut color with active bubbling.

s- sour! tart unripe frruit, champagne like dryness, slight funk, apple cider vinegar.

t- doesn't have the overly sour puckering flavor i was bracing myself for. unripe berries, green apple, some funk - now i think i understand how bas use the term 'horse blacket.' i think i've come up with the perfect description for this beer - 'BROWN ALE GONE WRONG' - don't get me wrong, thats a compliment!

m- very light and effervescent.

d- nice, i could finish off a bottle, but not sure how many afterwards, this is a sipper anyway, and not an everyday beer at that, but it was a great treat to try!

Pours a hazy red/orange, thick tan head forms, nice lacing, great retention, really sticky. Smell is sweet and sour, sugary, some caramel, some fruits, excellent funk. Taste is sour, some cherries, funky, fruits, nice toffee finish, more sourness as it goes down. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with high carbonation, nice Flanders ale. Thanks DrJay!

App - reddish-brown color, good clarity. Modest white head, but with good retention.

Smell - a bit like vinegar in the sour, but also fruity

Flavor - Fruit juice sweetness balanced with lactic sour. Finishes with some peppery spiciness, and dries out nicely.

MF - medium body and moderately high carbonation. Wouldn't mind it a bit flatter. Sourness gives a bit of pucker (astringency), but totally okay.

O'all - A very different kind of beer. Believe there are other examples that are slightly better, but highly drinkable if you've got a thing for gently sour beverages.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle, no date

A - Pours a Chestnut/Hazelnut brown with a very lively and vigorous head. Excellent retention, nice lacing

S - Sweet, fruity ester aroma with a sour edge; almost reminds me of sour patch kids.

T&M - Sharp, acidic style sourness with fruit notes; green apple and grapes. Light sweet malt presence, very vibrant carbonation. Medium bodied. I pick up just a bit of tannin woodiness with mild astringency.

D - Very refreshing, and I find myself imbibing faster then usual. My first try for this style, and I am very pleased. I wish I had a few more.
