Had a bottle in Ghent, as I felt is was only appropriate. Light and crisp at first, but too clean. A nice bubblegum aroma and flavor develop as it warms and there's also respectable hopping to leave a biting lemon rind hop aftertaste. Worth a try if you're in Ghent, but Belgium has better tripels out there.

This is a very regular tripel. Straightforward. Because of the drinkability I won't say anything bad, but on the other side there isn't much to say in a positive way either.

L: okay; regular top; not too foamy;
S: quite yeasty, little funk;
T: nice, quite light alcohol, finish missing;
M: drinks great, but without a finish...
O: good beer.

Had this on-tap at Brasserie Beck in Washington, D.C.

A: Beautiful cloudy yellow that practically radiates with light; forms a magnificent white, lacy head.

S: Mostly bready malts and yeast. Not much other than general freshness.

T: Strong on the bready malts. Hops poke out just a bit slightly in the middle and imbibe this brew with a hint of lychee, banana, and other tropical fruits. Ends dry on a strong Belgian yeast note.

M/D: Nicely carbonated; goes down smoothly. The alcohol is stronger than this brew reveals and sneaks up on you.

appearance: crystal clear. HUGE white head. Many tiny bubbles. Awesome lacing

smell: Wonderful estery aromas with candi sugar. Smells very appetizing

Taste: lemony at the front with a huge banana finish. Very nice.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Nothing stands out.

Drinkability: Excellent beer. I will have again if I can find it!

It's pouring an inch of nice white foam on top, with a light golden color beneath it.

Smell is a pleasant fresh and light smell, and a lot of CO2 at first.

The taste is light, a little bit of alcohol and some lemon at the end. With the aftertaste the "lightness" becomes a little bit warmer with still bits of lemon left.

Too much carbonation in my opinion for a fine mouth feel, and a medium body, but the mouth feel is pretty good.

Not one of my personal favorites but yet a decent beer.

Had this "new to me" Belgian on tap at Max's the other day.

The beer pours a solid gold color with very good head retention and lacing. On the nose I get some light aromas of honey, ginger and banana. The beer is very nice on the palate, with moderate sweet flavors of honey, butter and cantaloupe. The beer is a bit simple and one dimensional, but is still quite pleasant. The beer has a fairly light mouthfeel and finish, with the abv. very well disguised. Finish is smooth and soft.

Not a beer I would probably seek out, but a nice enough beer none the less.

Another one from van Steenberge and again in the same range. Apearance is as usual for a beer from Bios. Geat clarity for a botle fermented beer and due to enormous amounts of carbon dioxide a big head. Doesn't stay to long ok appearnce passed. Smell is in the beginning disurbed by the CO2 but after a while you notice a good and subtile arome. In this by alcoholsmell dominated beer, just a litle koreander and hops together with nice not to much yeastcaracter and maltaromes.
Taste is mostly alcohol again and quiet empty. Litle portlike ( best before 02-08-07??) lots of CO2 and litle bitter aftertaste make it a decent but far from great beer.

Appearance - Clear blonde body with a very large head.

Smell - Sweet and citrousy. It's a lower alchohol tripel, so the smell is softer (yeastier?) than many I tried.

Taste - Starts malty but releases well with a dryer, hoppier finish.

Mouth - Medium bodied. Well carbonated. Some alcohol taste is present, though

Drinkability - Decent for a tripel, but not as smooth as other, higher alcohol tripels that can be found.

Had this at the horrible little Galgenhuisje in Gent. Our server was relatively friendly, but the place is a tiny hovel filled with smoke. Not the most conducive to drinking beer.

Clear golden blonde colour in the glass, with a thick and frothy head of white. Decent head. Lots of streaming carbonation. It looks decent enough, without being stellar.

Round estery yeast on the nose, with big Belgian notes. Sweet, with a little spicy pepper. Mingled with this is a slight rustic note, almost like it has a bit of age on it. Not bad.

Taste is similar. Stronger, however, and sweeter, with a slight estery finish and some phenolic bite. Grain touches, which are unusual in a Belgian. Feel is light and thin. I can't say I'm a big fan.

It's soft and light, but I've had much better Belgians and much better beers stylistically.
