On-tap at City O' City in Denver. Served in a Gulden Draak tulip, the beer arrived with a slightly hazy deep mahogany hue and a billowing cream cap. The head slowly fell to a blanked of foam and left behind bits of lace.
"Heaven in a glass" was how I described this to my son, who chuckled at my comment. Dark dried fruit of currant, raisin and cherry get things going. They give the beer a strong vinous quality. Bitterness is quite mild and a little peppery. The alcohol adds nice warmth going down, but is well masked in the flavor. Letting the beer warm a bit makes the experience even better. The medium body has soft carbonation and could stand a touch more heft in my book. Overall, I found the beer fabulous.
I was having a really bad day when I ordered this. When my glass arrived, it improved eleven fold at the first sip. A truly great beer.

I left this one on my shelf for about a year. Yesterday evening I had to crack it.
A - A nice dark brown/reddish sup price, in my memory it was a blond ale! On top floats an off white/light beige head and the fluid is clear, but there is some dark yeast snow visible.
S - A sweet honey malt scent and some slight hop presence.
T - A sweet Porty tone mixed with yeast and malts, a delight!
M - A soft to medium carbonation what makes it a creamy feeling. There is hardly no alcohol to be discovered.
O - A very nice dark ale, I am glad I left it one the shelf for a while. I will certainly do this again in the near future. My intent is to crack one open together with a fresh one soon, because I have another aged one on my shelf :).

Bottle poured into 16oz chalice two and a half finger soda head
Dark brown tea color
Smelled of barley malt and hops
Tasted malt and hop bitterness, and alcohol
Mouthfeel: Warming and thick, the alcohol really came into play here.
Overall, I can see why so many people consider this to be a world class beer. I for one probably would opt out of having it again.
