Poured from 11.2 oz bottle into a Duvel tulip glass.

Appearance: Pours a very dark and hazy brownish amber with some ruby red. Pours with a huge off white head that easily takes up the entire space of the tulip. Head slowly fades into a bubbly patchy layer leaving a good amount of lace on the glass.

Smell: Some spicy Belgian yeast and a huge aroma of dark fruits. Big hints of prune juice, raisins, and cherries with some brown sugar, banana, and clove. Also some hints of sweet roasted caramel malts. Alcohol aroma is actually fairly mild.

Taste: Upfront is some Belgian yeast and clove spice. Then comes a big taste of dark fruits with notes of prunes, cherry, and raisins. Also some brown sugar and a hint of banana. A nice taste of roasted caramel malts towards the finish give a bready aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Creamy, juicy, and somewhat prickly. Very smooth with no noticeable alcohol heat.

Overall: A great Belgian ale. Vibrant dark fruits and complex.

Pours a dark amber color with very foamy/creamy off-white head that remains throughout the beer.

The scent is of sweet belgian sugars, brown sugar, spice and fruit.

The taste is of dark fruit, sweet sugar, brown sugar, notes of toasted malts, strong presence of alcohol.

Full body, smooth and creamy, moderate carbonation.

This was a very good belgian, excellent flavor, though I thought the alcohol was overpowering at times. I would still like to have this again.

Poured from an 11.2 oz bottle into a Unibroue tulip.

A: Pours a hazy, dark copper-orange color with two fingers of billowy khaki head. Strong retention and lace.

S: Brown sugar, a little banana, mellow spices. Excellent.

T: Leads with sweet spice, followed by stewed dark fruits, then finishes with more spice. Sweet cola and a little tea on the aftertaste. Very nice.

M: Medium body, well-carbonated. Lots of oil on the finish.

O: Used to drink this quite frequently. Haven't had in over a year, and really can't figure out why it's been so long. A fantastic beer, definitely worth seeking out. Quite sweet and makes a complete dessert on its own.
