Poured into a snifter, this living beer poured a reddish tinted dark brown and emitted a generous head. Apparently, the yeast was tired of being bottled up, and wanted out desperately. When the bubbles mellowed, the aroma was mildly sweet. Hints of banana and dry malt were present. The initial taste was sweet and smooth. Certainly, this is an easy drinker. A sweet banana flavor made an appearance with a mild spiciness. The flavor in this one is pretty close to perfect, it does not overwhelm and is not too mild. In the aftertaste, the tart fruit of a triple such as prune and over-ripe are present. The warming sensation of the alcohol does not burn like a a hard liquor, but is quite gentle. The aftertaste almost has the flavor of a good sherry. Like sherry, the first few sips are the best. If you drink to much, you risk failing to appreciate the complexity of the drink. This is one by favorites, and it is very accessable.

Bottle of 330 ml at home. Part of a box containing 6 belgian beers.
The bottle itself is just beautiful and the same goes for the beer too.Dark ruby colour with two fingers of creamy beige head.
Plums on the aroma, raisins, some yeast, some dates too. QVery strong once I poured the beer, later slighty fainted.
The taste follows the aroma, only closer. Very obvious taste of plums, some caramel too. Quite sweet. As with the other beers of the package, the high alcohol is well hidden and it tricks you to believe that it's maybe 3-4 degrees lower.
On the body is thick and carbonation is just perfect.
I would recommend it any given time!

750ml bottle poured into a goblet at slightly above cellar temp. No freshness dating found.

A: Deep ruby red body sits below a frothy off-white two-finger head. Real nice retention.

S: Dark fruit, butterscotch, vanilla and grain.

T: Raisins, dates and apple cider. A little of the sweet malt caramel comes through.

M: The alcohol is warming but the flavor is difficult to perceive. Body is medium to full, texture creamy and the carbonation is lively. Finish is slightly chalky.

O: A nice dark belgian that’s a bit atypical to many others. Although the alcohol is high, this seems like it would be fairly approachable for Belgian newbies.

Poured into a snifter. Dark amber to rusty brown hued with a medium head and good retention. Fruit, toast, very similar to a Quadrupel. I think it is one. Sweet and dark with some tannins and a creamy smoothness. Full carbonation and medium body. Slightly alcoholic at times, but that does not distract at all. Thoroughly enjoyable and very well made.
