Pours a beautiful deep ruby red body with an off white head and tons of bubbles rushing through it.

This is a very fruit forward smelling beer. The alcohol is definitely detectable. Nice touch of sweetness and a pleasant peppery component as well.

The alcohol isn’t hiding here. More fruits and sweetness pop in the flavor. It is also very herbally.

Smooth medium bodied and fairly drying.

A little heavy on the alcohol but still an enjoyable brew.

33cl bottle poured into a weizen

A: dark brownish carbonated cola look large sticky frothy tan head that sticks around for a bit

S: toffee, sweet, hints of dark red fruits and faint floral notes

T: caramel, grape, spicy pepper, bitter, noticeable alcohol taste as it moves over the palate and quickly dissipates

M: slightly carbonated mouthy feel. Sticky, hops balancing with malt to the brink of sweetness.

O: Very nice filling brew. Seems the warmer this beer, the more the alcohol aftertaste stands out. Will definitely buy more but not for the hot days.

750ml bottle served in a snifter.

pours a mahogany tone while yielding a foamy 1" tan head. fades somewhat quickly into a thin cap, collar around the glass. nose is decidedly sweet with notes of candied / dark fruits, brown sugar, and caramel. good but nothing really remarkable.

flavors follows the aroma somewhat: sweet, yes, but carries none of the cloying sweetness i sort of anticipated. nice and flavorful with the fruitiness, brown sugar, some spice, and caramel all pulling through; there's even a secondary sour character to it. medium bodied mouthfeel with adequate carbonation. for me much better than i anticipated from the nose.

overall, an excellent beer. can't believe it's taken me this long to try it. can't place it among my favorite belgians necessarily, but very, very good nonetheless. a must try.

A: Clear deep sepia, reddish brown, with 2 finger of light tan head. Lacey retention, with even a rim of foam left clinging to the glass.

S: Toffee and dark honey, with spiced notes of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and fennel. Creamy scent of vanilla and notes of dark dried fruits, such as raisins, cherries, prunes, caramelized bananas and forward scent of fermented fruits.

T: Deeply caramelized honey and dark fruit, it's as though it's brandied cherry beer aged in vanilla bourbon barrels. Hints of raisins and dates with cloves and nutmeg, and a presents of warming alcohol along the end of the taste.

M: Medium to heavy bodied with a minimal carbonation that hits first and then quickly losses its fizz. Nice coverage in the mouth that last well beyond the last sip.

O: Great stand alone beer that is a true treat to sip. We had it with a chicken mole and found the complexity of mole (nuts, coco, chills, dried fruits) complimented the Gulden Draak especially well. I also consider a cream brûlée with it as well, the dark honey notes would be and excellent compliment to a creamy dessert.
The brew reminds me more of great sipping port, truly worth savouring.

Pours a clear brown with a tan head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form all over the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and spice aromas. Taste is much the same with a mild spice bitterness on the palate after each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with some nice aromas and flavors but I am not too sure I could drink too much of this one at a time.

A: Dark brown color with a slight garnet hue. Was amazed to find it so dark since most Trippels are more golden. Large tan head that stayed.

S: Wow! Toffee, caramel and malt. Also the scent of the most loveliest yeast.

T: Very sweet at first but the alcohol comes in and takes it away slightly. Pepper, anise, red grapes, honey and herbs

M: Medium body, creamy and smooth.

O: A must try and a must have for any Belgian lover. This is one you want to recomend and share with friends.
