Dark brown with diminutive cherry hues and covered with a quickly disappearing tan head. Nose consists of rum, plums, raisins, spice and diacetyls. Aroma is robust and concerted. Tastes of more dark fruits and has a definite vinous feel. Behind that are some sweet caramel notes, more rum booziness and a hint of butterscotch. Slightly syrupy with a creamy core and dry edges. Medium to heavy mouth-feel. Alcohol is noticeable. Brand new Belgian for me, and one of the best I've had in a while.

Appearance: It has a nice dark brown/amber color to it. It has a nice beige head that dies down quite fast and leaves almost no lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitly give out hints of dark fruit: mostly raspberries and cherries, definite grapes (similar to wine), alcohol, some spices, and some yeast.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has a very sweet fruity flavor, mainly grapes, raspberries and cherries, some molasses, a touch of alcohol, light spices and some caramel.

Mouthfeel: It has medium carbonation with a sweet overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.

From 11/25/11 notes. Poured from an 11.2 oz. bottle into a tulip.

a - Pours a dark mahogany brown color with two fingers of fluffy tan head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of dark fruits, molasses, sweet fruity malts, light alcohol, and light spices.

t - Tastes of sweet dark fruits, molasses, bready malts, booze, yeast, and light spice.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty easy to drink for over 10% ABV.

o - Overall a very good Belgian dark ale. Lots of sweet dark fruits mixing with a little spice. Something I would definitely buy again.
