Appearance: Served in a goblet at the Yardhouse in Pasadena. It has a glowing orange color with a fine, white, even, whispy head. Very good head retention and very nice spider webbing of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell: Crisp malty scent, strong green apple scent and a very light alcohol scent.
Taste: This beer is very malty with notes of apple and some citrus. Lots of spicy flavors contribute too, including some clove. This beer is sweet with fruity esters but not overly sweet. It's chewy and slightly warming.
Mouthfeel: I think this may have one of the best feels of any beer out there. Usually mouthfeel is an after thought but with this beer the mouthfeel stands out as being wonderful. It catches my attention even moreso than some of the flavors. It feels nice and coats my mouth with a very nice feeling. It's tingly, smooth, light to medium bodied and well carbonated. The carbonation does not bite at my mouth, but rather it caresses it tenderly. This beer feels exceptionally good in the mouth.
Drinkability: Clean and refreshing. This beer is an old favorite that I have had many times and finally decided to take notes and review it. I also think this beer is an excellent beer to give people who are now to good beer. It's not offensive at all and it is very gentle and welcoming to new palates.
