A sweet, yet soft and spicy taste served in a tulip glass doing a rather straight pour.
4 finger head and rapidly vanished.
The taste is fruity (raspberry, strawberry with a hint of cherry). another side of its taste is rather bready and not malty, more of a sweet flavor bread.
The 8%ABV in this beer is not apparent what so ever. Easily drinkable and very enjoyable brew.
Like most ales, this could also be served by tilting the glass and avoiding carbonation to be released. in that case this beer might taste stronger. this review was based on a strong pour and not much carbonation left in the beer (a preferable pour based on this style of Dubbels to my opinion).

Pours a cloudy dark brown with a large tan head. The head sticks around for a bit, and leaves some nice lacing.

Smell is brown sugar, toffee, raisins, and maybe fig or plum.

Fruity up front, dried fruit like raisin and dried plum. I can also taste Belgian candy sugar, and just a hint of bitterness at the finish.

Feel is a little on the thin side, with a bit of tingling from high carbonation.

Overall a good double, but not a great one. It has good flavor, but just seems a bit weak, feels a bit watered down. Compared the the best of this style, where the competition is very stiff, it can't quite stand up to the big boys.

Pours a dark cloudy brown with a medium beige head. Aroma and taste is of sweet caramel, some mild toasted notes, Belgian yeast, some mild dark dried fruits, raisins and dark plums and moderate hops bitterness. Palate is a medium, slightly thick body, smooth mouth feel with good carbonation. Finishes with sweet caramel malt, dark fruit flavors of raisins and some dried plums tartness, Belgian yeast with a lingering moderate hops and caramel malt, dark fruit ending. Aroma seemed a bit light. Overall a well balanced and flavorful brew.

A: Dark chocolaty brown that only lets a shade of light through. Reserved amount of foam, a shade less than a finger but I poured it very easy. The foam receded within a minute and proceeded to leave a sticky dotted mess on the side of the glass.

S: Creamy and chocolaty. Milk. Vanilla. Smells great, but more one sided here.

T: Sweet chocolate and malt starts off with a rich milky creaminess. Mild coffee notes, but more sweet. Some mineral with steel and graphite. Very slight raiseny taste. Cool juiciness. Slight bittering locks down the roasted grain aggressively leaving a mild dryness with notes of seasoned wood and dry leaves. Rich sandy earthiness. Finishes slightly salty. Really good developed roasty flavors but still easy and refreshing.

M: Smooth and creamy. Nice and really easy drinking. Slightly dry finish and salty, but only a little.

O: Really great tasting dubbel. If anything it's a little too straight shooting with out a huge depth. Regardless I really like this for the smooth mellow drinkability.
