A-wow i don't think i've had this embarrassing of a pour in a very long time. be careful with this one or else you'll be getting almost all head. its a transparent golden with a LOT of white head and a LOT of bubbles

S-barley and a decent amount of sweet belgian spices. smells tasty.

T-it hits with a the belgian spices that aren't completely distinct or strong, just mediocre, then it hits with a sharp zing of alcohol bite. the after-taste is of sweet belgian yeasts

M-medium carbonation with an almost watery finish to it, the ABV is sharp to the mouth.

D-not the greatest triple, in fact not a good triple at all. i barely finished this one...a second would be quite a task. i will never recommend this to anyone

Pored out of a small bottle into a tulip glass and served cool

Initially thick head that dissipates quickly. Gold body and white head

Herbal sugar smell

Herbs, parsley cilantro and sweet grain

Very well carbonated

Not a bad beer but a bit monochromatic. Okay and would not say no to it but wouldn't seek it out

Poured from bottle into a chalice glass

Appearance – The beer pours a hazy light orange-amber color with a huge and thick foamy white head. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading to leave a great level of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is a quite delicious, consisting of a heavy sweet aroma of banana, orange, apple, and bubblegum. Along with this smells comes a yeast cake aroma mixed with spices of clove and coriander. A light grassy and hay aroma are there as well with a light alcohol booziness giving a very nice and sweet triple smell.

Taste – The taste begins with a bready and slightly sweet flavor with flavors of apple, pear, and orange. A yeasty flavor is present upfront with it remaining a base taste throughout the flavor profile. The bready flavor transitions to a more cracker like flavor as the taste moves on, with the sweeter flavors dwindling from the start to the middle of the taste. While the sweet dwindle some, they make a resurgence toward the end being joined by some bubblegum sweetness. All while this occurs, some light spice flavors of coriander and clove come to the tongue. Other flavors comes as well around this time with a moderate booziness as well as some grassy and astringent flavors coming to the tongue. The astringent get moderately intense at the end, mixing with the now sweet, crackery and spiced flavor to leave a somewhat odd triple flavor on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the average to slightly thicker side with a carbonation level that is on the higher side and is composed of lots of lighter/tiny carbonation bubbles. While a slightly thinner body may have been a bit more complementing of the mix of sweet, astringent, and spice, the higher carbonation was rather good for the flavor profile helping make a decent feel overall.

Overall – A little too much astringentness and an odd mix of cracker and sweet at the end of the taste. Overall an alright drinking brew however and at least worth giving a try to.

An old friend of mine, one of the first tripels I ever purchased. More than happy to purchase this again once I saw it at Mink's off Delk Rd. in ATL.

Using the old La Trappe goblet again.

Appearance 4.0: Pours out a completely translucent, shimmering gold. Decent 1/2" head quickly dissipated leaving the requisite foam. Lacing is good. Beautiful in the glass.

Smell 3.5: Very subdued bouquet. I get a sense of alkaline mixed with maybe a note of barley but that is it.

Taste 4.25: Nice. Front is slightly sweet, but more on the dry side. Middle is smooth and has a nice big hit of malt before fading back down into a silky, dry sensation in the center of the palate. Finish is where I tasted a pleasant biscuit malt, mixed with a noble hop; this is all very smooth and somewhat dry. Aftertaste is short, clipped and pleasant with a brief sensation (not taste!) of alcohol in the very top of the palate. I have never had a tripel this dry with the taste of alcohol so completely hidden.

Mouthfeel 3.75: A bit too conditioned for my taste, it was, nonetheless, enjoyable.

Overall 4.0: Dry, delicious and dangerously sessionable, this tripel will sneak up on you and rob you of all your Belgian francs. Or euros. Or both. Fantastic as a sipper, its dryness would allow it to be paired with almost any food of which you can conceive. Excellent work (once again) by the maestro brewers at Van Steenberge Brewery.

A: The beer is clear dark golden yellow in color and has a moderate to high amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that died down, leaving a large pillow of bubbles in the center, a collar around the edge, a thin head in between and lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of apples and pears present in the nose along with notes of honey, the latter of which seems to subside a little as the beer warms up.
T: The taste mostly follows the smell and is fruity with notes of apples, candi sugar and pears along with bits of honey and a light amount of associated sweetness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No warming from the alcohol is perceptible.
O: This beer tastes a lot fruiter compared to other beers in the style but is quite drinkable because any traces of alcohol are well masked from the taste.
