This has got to be the weirdest beer I've ever tasted! I don't know if it was still good, BB date still 1-1/4 year away. But it was a sample of one.

The brewery according to the bottle is Brouwerij Croy, Aarle Rixtel, Netherlands and not Brouwerij Van Steenbergen. The website is croybier.nl, and proudly shows the products and history (in Dutch). On the label it says: "From the year 1795 people on the estate Croy near Aarle Rixtel brewed a deliciuos beer. After more than two hundred years the Croy beer is being brewed again with the ingredients from the estate. Like it was, it shall be..." (loosely translated).

Back to the beer. It poured out fine, light cloudiness, beautiful blond color. The smell already showed the weird taste, which is like this "reefer" or hashish beer that I drank years ago. I don't remember the name but I believe it was from Amsterdam like myself (hmmm, figures...). The taste did not really agree with me but it definitely is something for the more adventurous to try!

I was not disappointed with this beer. The label said the beer is brewed in Aarle Rixtel in Holland. It is strange to read that this beer is brewed in Belgium on this site. Ah well!

Poured in my Maredsous glad the head is enourmously big. Strange to see because the beer has almost no carbonation.

This blond beer has a good smell with a bit of pepper.

Soft taste, very easy to drink. I liked the mouthfeel.

Nothing wrong with this beer!

BB 03-05-07. Very well lasting head, and a deep golden and almost clear beer. Nose is very green of 4 venylguiacol, spicy( koreander?) and a wheatsmell with litle sourness. Taste is malty, quiet dry, spicy and alcoholic. Aftertaste is mostly it's light bitterness and alcohol witch seems to be much higher as the 6.8% that's listed. Easy drinkable but no high flyer.
