stubby bottle into a duvel tulip

pours a duvel-esque goldan straw color with a soapy foamy head

granny smith apple, clove, spices in the nose

starts off fruity, then some herbal notes hit, finishes sweet but slightly boozy

solid effort. prefer american BSPAs though

330 ml served in a chilled glass

Appearance - Beer pours with a tremendous amount of white fizzy head! The head is very light and full of air pockets. The beer is a clear amber colour with a tremendous amount of carbonation present.

Smell - very strong raisin smell to this beer, as well hints of sweetness. There is a decent amount of yeast as well.

Taste - You can really taste the raisin/fruit base as well as some yeast. This is a very light beer.

Mouthfeel - good amount of carbonation adds a little bitterness to the end of this beer. Overall, not a lot brought fwd, maybe some added yeast taste.

Drinkability - This is a decent beer, one i am glad i tried, but not one i would go out to find again.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of March 2013. Purchased as part of a sampler pack from this brewery. The front label features an image of a monk trapped in a giant spider's web.

Poured into a Stella chalice. A pale golden hue with good carbonation - becomes significantly clouded by fine yeast sediment towards the end of the pour. Produces a huge head of white foam with impressive stability; reminiscent of Duvel. The head eventually subsides, leaving frothy lacing around the glass. Aroma of yeast and esters, with notes of banana, cloves and a hint of spice.

Tastes of light malt with plenty of yeast and esters dominating the flavour. Notes of banana. Slightly sour, with a faint hint of sweetness - this is somewhat unbalanced. No bitterness to mention, and the alcohol seems well hidden. Mouthfeel is tingly, leaving the palate dry. Leaves a mildly acrid yeasty aftertaste.

A decent belgian blonde, but it won't change your life. The complex yeasty characteristics are OK, but it has an acrid undertone that spoils the flavour. Worthy...

11.2 oz bottle poured into a snifter.
Appearance: Pours a golden-copper color with a modest white head. Plenty of visible carbonation bubbling up. A thin partial coat and ring last throughout the entire drink, and bubbly lacing is left behind with each sip.

Smell: Belgian style spiciness dominates, with hints of clove and cardamom, but there’s also more than a hint of fruitiness, a biscuity malt base, and a light touch of floral hops.

Taste: Largely conforms to the nose and is mainly the flavor of spiced malts. Sweet, especially up front, but with a mild hop bitterness kicking in from the finish onwards.

Mouthfeel: Medium body; Medium-strong carbonation is lightly prickly.

Overall: A solid and spicy blonde with well-hidden ABV that lacks the complexity and refinement of the best Belgian alternatives.

Big white head settles into a into a fairly decent lacing above a clear copper golden colored beer that seems to have some pretty good carbonation to it.

Light aroma with grain malts, bread, cooking spices, lemon, and a lighter sourness.

Lemon pepper with grain malts and some breadiness along with other light spices in a warming taste.

A dryish aftertaste with just a hint of the tastes remaining on this medium bodied beer.

This is a pretty good beer considering they call it a blonde, has more and better tastes than most blondes around here, well blonde beers anyway.

Poured into a snifter glass from a 330 ml bottle.

It is opaque. It's colour is orange with some golden sparks.

In my opinion, it smells to cheese (I would say Edam) with some hints of lemon. The alcohol is also present.

The mouthfeel is quite good. A little bit bitter, in my opinion.

The overall taste acomplishes my expectations but it is not the best Belgian Pale Ale that I've tasted.

Pours a slightly hazed honeyed orange in colour with lots of visible carbonation. The head is absolutely massive, taking up almost half the glass and leaving a patchwork web of lace on the walls of my glass as it slowly recedes.

The beer shows aromas of green apple and lemon with faint musty, medicinal bitterness in the background. A little on the sweet side, it tastes of apple and lemon. The leafy, medicinal finish feels musty and drying.

Medium-bodied with fine carbonation. Feels crisp. An approachable and simple pale ale from Belgium.

A classic hazy blond color, quick bubbles deliver a huge, towering white head, crystal clear and white, last forever.

The aroma is veru natural, earthy and pure. big wheat, grains, earth, musky dry earth and sour from the wonderful yeast aroma, slightly sweet malt underneath.

The flavor is just exactly what I LOVE about authentic Belgian beers, Earthy, sour, musky yeast complexity that is righteous. The malt is subtle, crisp and slightly sweet with grassy, mild hops.

The feel is perfect for this style and for my own personal feeling. Light, lively, crispy, with a full lush, smooth finish. Spot-on.

I just love this one through and through.

Appearance - Pours a fairly clear, golden yellow color with a white, frothy 3-finger head. Decent retention. Fair lacing, but little to no stick.

Smell - Aroma hits on grain, with a touch of sweetness and mellow sourness. Fruity esters. Hints of apple and banana.

Taste - Plentiful grain character upfront and throughout, while lesser notes of sour apple and a faint spice round out the profile. Finish is quick, with a lingering sourness.

Mouthfeel - Light to medium in body, with sharp, biting carbonation. Lively. Slick, almost buttery feel as it goes down. Very easy to drink.

Overall - While I enjoyed this beer, I found the flavor a bit boring. The mouthfeel definitely helped in delivering a better than average, good belgian brew. That said, I don't think this is a beer I'd look to buy again.

Very slightly hazy golden color with a ridiculous amount of head. If I had something tall enough to hold it all I estimate that this whole bottle would produce over 2 feet of head.

Very fragrant with citrus and some yeast. Spectacular.

A hint of eisbock character, a higher alcohol sweetness. Everything else in the flavor is a combination of citrus, but not heavily hoppy citrus, and some yeast.

Feels light, slightly dry, and clean with a medium tingling.

Pretty standard clear golden body with a dense white head.

The aroma smells like green apples, mineral spirits, and sulphur. Quite an odd collection of scents.

Thankfully the green apple and pear is what translated most. Corn and grainy malt. There's a chemical like aftertaste like the mineral spirit smell.

Lighter body with strong carbonation.

An odd Belgian pale to say the least. Normally it's a clean style but this one was not that.
