330ml served in a snifter glass.

A: Pours a dark orange color forming a huge white bubbled head. Clear. Good retention and tons of lacings formed and left

S: Very sweet in the nose. Very fruity and bready too. Notes of raisins, vanilla and honey. Yeasts are very bready and Belgian. A bit metallic. Alcohol can be felt in the end

T: Sweet upfront, sweet malts, mainly. Quite fruity, with notes of grapes and raisins. Earthy yeasts. Light hops bitterness in the end

M: Heavy, creamy and molasses. Medium carbonation. Bittersweet aftertaste

O: Strong but quite good beer. Very Belgian. Recommended

Pours with a billowy white head with fair retention. Color is reddish-orange. Froth leaves the mortal coil leaving thick lacing all around.

Has a sweet malty aroma with orange peel, fresh baked vanilla cake and spicy rum. Tastes spicy and malty up front with slight dark fruits mixed in with big light fruits, bubble gum, taffy and distant hops.

Goes down creamy with a medium to heavy mouthfeel. A little alcohol is noticed (I'm guessing in the 8% range).*

This is a very welcomed addition to the growing Belgian line of brews to make it to Oklahoma.

* A bit off on that one.

A: Massive white mountain head. Stuck around forever and grew in the glass after the pour. Golden color and slightly cloudy.

S: Spiciness, dark dried fruits (plum/raisin) but still crisp, alcohol came in stronger as it warmed, Belgian yeast funk.

T: Sweet and spicy. Huge amounts of dried fruit, you name it cherry/fig/plum. Alcohol and hop spice round it out. To much going on to really explain in words. Slightly dry and sweet on the finish

M: Full. Med to high carbonation, syrup like. Bitterness kicks at the end and the alcohol bite lingers as it warmed. Spicy on the gums.

O: This beer falls somewhere between a Belgian Dark Strong and a Belgian Golden Strong. The appearance would tell me it is a golden, but the flavor and scent says something else. I don't think this beer was designed to fall into our contemporary "categories." Anyway you slice it, this is a very complex beer that should be experienced by all.

A: 1" white head that left a nice lacing over top of partially cloudy straw coloured liquid.

S: Yeasty with a bit of a pineapple smell to it.

T: Somewhat tart at first but not unpleasant, yeasty, with some malt and alcohol toward the end. The 9% ABV does not unbalance the taste.

M: Medium level of medium carbonation. Good mouth feel.

O: I quite enjoyed this Belgian ale, would make for a great summer patio beer.

I picked this up at the local BC Liquor Store. I'm guessing that it is a BSPA and not a 9% version of the Belgian IPA with the same name. The beer pours a bright blond with a bubbly head that fades like champagne. The aroma is dry, pale malt with a slightly tropical fruitiness and some mild yeasty phenolic character. The flavor is sweet candy like malt upfront with more fruity esters, some tart apple and pear creep there way in. The finish is dry with plenty of yeasty, chalky phenolic character. The alcohol is fairly well hidden, but it starts to creep in as the beer warms.
