750ml bottle 10,5% Abv.
Served chilled and split between a wine glass and snifter.
Best before: 21/11/2013 (Intentionally cellared)
Appearance: It seems the guys at Van Steenberge like to do things a little differently, first a dark triple (the regular Gulden Draak) and now a light Quad! The beer appears a beautiful burnished golden-orange with a rough pour yielding a massive off white head. The head retention is pretty average, but it does leave a few patches of lacing as it recedes.
Smell: Gulden Draak 9000 doesn’t smell much like any other Quad that I have had, but when it smells this good who really cares! A solid sweetness (notes of brown sugar and caramel) combines with a lovely fruity character (golden raisins, cooked apples, peach, sweet white grapes, cherry, a little citrus peel and a hint of golden plums), a light spicing (white pepper) and a touch of brandy like alcohol.
Taste: The flavor isn’t quite as sweet as the nose suggested and has notes reminiscent of a BSPA, but it is still delicious. Notes include: Brown sugar, cooked apples, some peppery spicing, sweet golden raisins, clove, plums, a touch of banana and a little brandy-like alcohol.
Mouthfeel: As with most Belgians this is somewhat over carbonated for my tastes, but it isn’t too harsh or obtrusive. The body is medium-full, a little chewiness and a light stickiness.
Overall: I am very glad that I put this bottle away for a while - I think if it had been fresh there would have been a little too much alcohol. I am going to have to by a few more bottles to stick in the cellar.

Been passing up on trying this beer for a very long time.
Great malty tone to this with a distinct and consistent sweet edge. Way too easy to drink. Strikes me much more as a strong amber ale, but who cares. It's a nice hearty ale that carries mellow, yet pointed, sweet tones. Like I said, way too easy to drink. A great beer.
