Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple. First time I've seen this. Laser printed '15LK' on the back label. A clean snifter glass will do just fine.

Well, now, my pants are soaked and a got dribbles all over my computer desk and keyboard. Needless to say, this one was a GUSHER! Bourbon orange color to the beer and the foam flushing out from the bottleneck I remember to be off-white in color. Not much head settled on my beer after the pour. Interesting color for a quad. Also, a questionable amount of refining sugar may have been used. (frownie face) 3.5

First, I smell the alcohol followed by a thin dark fruit aroma. Lots of fig and date and a hint of cinnamon. Maybe a smidge of caramel syrup. Can't tell if it's from the alcohol or note, but this has some eye-tingling spiciness. Not like chiles, but like a peppery saison yeast. 4.0

Has a lot of reminiscence of Gulden Draak Dark Tripel, but with a teasing amount of booze. More fig and date and some golden raisin, white chocolate, light rum, and challah bread. That's right, the malts are a little eggy. The malts have a deep toastiness, but there's not a whole lot of sweetness going on (even after I mention all of those descriptors above). There's a semi-sweet and boozy finish that feels a little chalky and dries up all of those candied dried fruits. Traces of banana and bubble gum round it out. A distinct quad from here on out. Tasty, but not bewildering. The carbonation is solidly in the middle ground and the body is strangely eggy, as well. Like raw egg whites. Slick with some cling. Definitely a sipper, and as slow as I'm drinking it, it's jabbing at me. 4.0, 3.0

I'm a little taken aback. This borders on a mega-strong pale ale. It's an amped-up Gulden Draak Dark Tripel without those delicious dark chocolate and plummy notes; subbed with more and more and more booziness, drier fruits, and a piquant quality. I'll stick to my go-to quads from here on out. 3.5

Poured from a corked 750 ml bottle into a Duvel tulip glass.

Appearance: Pours a deep and hazy amber orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Big three finger off white head that slowly fades into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a decent amount of lacing.

Smell: A yeasty, fruity, and spicy malt forward aroma with big hints of dark fruits. Belgian yeast with some upfront hints of clove, pepper, and cinnamon spicing. Sweet scent of Belgian candied sugar and brown sugar. Toasted malt with sweet hints of caramel, toffee, biscuit, toasted bread, and straw. Big fruit esters with hints of bananas, pear, orange, and apples along with a big presence of dark fruit including hints of grapes, raisin, fig, prune, cherry, and plum. Also some hints of leather and licorice spicing. Subtle earthy hop hints. A very good complex aroma.

Taste: Like the nose, a yeasty, spicy, and very fruity malt driven taste with a big presence of dark fruits. Upfront Belgian yeast with some notes of clove, peppers, funk, and cinnamon spice. Sweet taste of candied sugar and brown sugar. Toasted malt with bready and sweet notes of caramel, biscuit, toasted bread, and toffee. Huge taste of dried fruits with good notes of banana, apples, pear, and orange. Dark fruit notes of raisin, fig, grapes, prune, cherry, and plum. Good notes of leather and slight tobacco. Subtle earthy and grassy hop notes. A very good Belgian taste.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a fairly high level of carbonation. Creamy, chewy, spicy, and fairly juicy with a drying finish. Alcohol presence is felt but its not overly hot.

Overall: A really great Belgian Quad. Good mix of fruit esters, spices, and toasty malt. Up there with the best.

Amber color with a huge thick orange head with great retention and leaving lots of laces.
Unexpectedly light aroma for a Quad with notes of caramel, mild grape and banana.
Flavor with citrusy notes, candi sugar, light spices, Portuguese young wine, mild plum, green apples, raisins and honey. It has a short delay in drying your mouth.
Medium to full body with appropriate carbonation. It is hard to believe it has an alcohol content of 10.5% abv.
I don’t know why I was expecting an even more powerful version of Gulden Draak (I guess the label), but I got a bit less complex and intense beer that is rather smooth, which in a second thought, it is a quality on its own, it is extremely drinkable at 10.5% abv. Anyway, it is a definitely a good beer and kept getting better as it approached room temperature.

Similar to the white bottle Gulden Draak. Amber with a nice chunky head. Very nice bouquet. Smells like brown sugar, caramel, toffee, some chocolate. Low to medium carbonation. Fruity in front. Bitter in the middle. Strong finish. Very complex and flavorful. A very detailed brew.
