Good beer. Quite ordinary Belgian beer. Wouldn’t compare it to top triple beers from Belgium but still a good one.

Hazy gold pour with an immense dense head that lasts and laces. All the best aspects of a blonde ale and more. Spicy with clove flavor and a cereal/grain malt backbone. Blondes are often light. This one has heft--it is substantial--with a well-disguised 7% ABV. Thoroughly Belgian, deliciously enjoyable.

Larger two-finger head into a small glass. It settles with a brief dome. Thicker streaky lace on the glass. The liquid is dirty gold with a mild chill haze.
The smell is a blend of alcohol and semi-dry caramel. Throw in some Belgian yeast and you get 99% of the picture. I also detect some banana in the background.
Fairly highly carbonated and a bit thinner for my tastes. The taste begins with a candied caramel (sweeter than the smell) with strong alcohol back kick. No notable hop--no bitterness detected at all. Shorter aftertaste consisting of alcohol.

330 ml stubby bottle, bought at Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is now 7% - seems to vary quite a bit. Pale yellow colour, slightly hazy, huge and white head lasts "forever". Fairly nice aroma of spices and Belgian ale yeast. The flavour is mildly spicy with moderate notes of white candi sugar, not too sweet, quite nice. Moderate hops. Light bodied for its strength, alcohol is well hidden, pleasant to drink.

Poured at just under fridge temp. Pours an opaque orange with white orange. The nose is orange, wheat, apricot, candy, and grapes. The taste is fantastic. Sweet, but not too sweet. Toffee, wheat, orange, leather, apricot, and green grapes. Lovely and easy to drink. Mouthfeel is fairly light. Alcohol not detectable. Overall, a wonderful beer.

Love this beer. Strong Ale that has a somewhat sweet taste. I'm trying to hunt down more.

Can't remember who brought the big bottle of this out. Cellar release 7-2012.
Pours a dark golden color, 3/5" white head resulting in an attractive looking beer. Aroma was hot alcohol and cereal grain. Getcha one of those gasoline fueled breakfast cereals like this one.
Taste was bitter hot. Not hoppy, but bitter, boozy. Yeast of an obvious belgian source, but seems to amp the abv sensation in the mouth feel to around 24%. Reminds me of a tripel but for the banana note. Some green apple soaked in gasoline notes. I tend to find Gulden Draak and Piraat pretty hot stuff too.
Take my review with a grain of salt, this was just too pungent of a yeast for me. But give me a pungent ass lager yeast and I'm usually all good. For whatever reason, this just tasted hot all the way down.

Lovely strong pale ale (blonde) weighing in a 7%. Deep golden color, dry on the palate (not as sweet as other strong ales.) Slightly bitter after taste. Refreshing with a full body.

I am always thrilled to find a new ale from the Belgian brewer for whom I have the most BA ratings.
I am particularly thrilled to find St. Stefanus because this Blonde is particularly well-crafted.
Looks totally inviting, clear and fluffy. Smells pretty good with the Belgian yeast really working up the tree fruit. Tastes follow and is balanced expertly. Here and there I get too much dryness from the hops, but the fruit comes back in.
Having had 19 beers from Van Steenberge (and many, many, many repeats of my favorites), I thought it was time to do some research. Their website is excellent, but not too informative. So I Googled them and came up with this excellent article that I share with you now. Cheers !
