Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a weizen glass. 09/13/08.

Pours a bright golden-straw yellow color with about two fingers of bubbly white head. The head dropped quickly leaving no lacing. Strong spicy aroma with lots of clove, bubblegum, and banana.

Taste is similar to the aroma but better. Good wheat taste, pepper and clove, bubblegum, banana. A bit of light citrus as well. Not too sweet at all. This is one of the best tasting hefeweizens I've ever had. A very nice mix of flavors.

Feel is light-medium body and well-carbonated. Very clean, crisp, and refreshing. Drinkability is great. It's not heavy at all and it goes down so smoothly. A few of these would be great on a hot day.

Overall a pretty good hefeweizen. One of the best I've had.

A day to drink quaffable style beers as I started around 1:00PM and the fireworks have not even started.Poured into a weizen glass a clouded light peach color with a decent sized rocky white head atop.Alot of banana and toasted malt in the nose, light lemon lingers.Flavors are banana-clove heavy with light toasted what malt underneath,I like the heavier creamy feel to the beer. It's a good warmer weather beer, very good for today.

Bottle courtesy of phisig137, thanks for the opportunity.

Pours a cloudy yellow color with a soft white head that stays around and leaves a nice lacing. Nose is composed of banana, clove, lemon, and some sort of chlorine smell. Taste is mostly clove, with some lemon and banana undertones. Quite a refreshing taste. Highly carbonated and full bodied, pretty nice. This would be a great beer to have around, other than the smell this one could rival its German counterparts.

Legend- Hefeweizen

A- Clear yellow with a huge billowy white head. Moderate lacing on the lip of my glass.
S- Light wheat and yeast. Crisp clove and bubblegum.
T- Good wheat and clove with a good touch of juicy fruit bubblegum.
M- Sweet and juicy hefe with a dry finish.

Overall- a bit light but tasty and quaffable. This bomber was quickly polished off. Next visit to VB I'll drink this at any hot summer BBQ's.

Bomber into an Aventinus glass.

Appearance: Nice slightly golden hazy yellow, lots of surging carbonation toward the top long after the initial pour, and pads of lacing sans sheets around the bulbous top.

Smell: Yeast, doughiness, lemon, sour cherries, mango and tropical fruit. Not typical sans cloves and banana, but the esters and yeast aromas are there, with the wheat, and I like the different take.

Taste: Much carrying over from the aroma, yeast and fresh dough, fruit esters, a bit of citrus hops, fruity finish. Not as sweet as some seem to be, which I also like.

Mouthfeel: Lighter to medium bodied, maybe more spritzy than other versions of the style, even domestics.

Drinkability: Differently solid, and also not as sweet as other styles, which I said before, and that may turn some folks off as far as wanting to try this. Yes, it's different, yet it remains a balanced take on the style.

Pours a deep yellow with an orange tint. Fluffy white head stay as long as it takes to finish the beer. Aroma is bananas with a small zing of citrus. Taste is a bit musty with the yeast up front and then traditional “German” weizen flavors.

This is one of the first American versions of a weizen beer that makes me want more. A well balanced, all around good American version Hefeweizen. Reminds me of drinking a weizen with my father-in –law back in Germany.
A must try!

The last of my Legend triad, straight from The Cheese Shop.

A: The weizenbier is hazy, a golden straw color in my glass. The pour generated three fingers of head that nearly overflowed out of the glass. That head receded quickly though, leaving little behind.

S: Lots of clove wafting out of the glass, a reminder of the subtle beauty of a good hefeweizen. It's nice to see Legend nail the aroma, with splashes of wheat following the clove.

T: This beer restores my faith in Legend. The weizen flavors are crisp and full, lots of clove and banana. The esters don't crowd out the wheat, which has just enough tartness to be noticeable. The flavors, sweet and spry, are perfect for a warm day at the beach. Or, in this case, naptime in our townhouse at the beach. A very enjoyable hefeweizen from the crew at Legend.

M: The mouthfeel is aided by a low carbonation, allowing the banana and wheat to linger. I really enjoy how the flavors roll around.

D: A good hefeweizen, no doubt about it. A little dry and very flavorful, this weizen hit the spot.

a: standard pint, yeast roused from the bottom before pouring, fizzy white head shows light and eventually no retention atop a golden amber beer made opaque by a thick shroud of suspended yeast

s: yeasty overripe banana and clove over a wheat body that is pretty benign for the most part, hops mild, standard stuff

m: lighter bodied with a low-moderate carbonation that's just a little abrasive for the style at first and eventually dies down to flat soda levels, really makes for a dull experience on the palate

t: boring wheat malt body with the only defining characteristics courtesy of the hefe yeast - mild clove and banana pudding mix, nothing off here but this hefe totally plays it safe and ends with a disappointingly abrupt and watery finish, glimpses of herbal grasses and a mild bitterness close things up

d: light and easy enough, but not worth a repeat purchase

bomber from The Caboose, Ashland, VA...I really wanna like Legend more - but my current perception is that they make only a few beers worth a repeat while many either have issues or suffer from a lack of inspiration

Appears a hazy light gold with a 2 finger small white head that fades into a mild cap and a hearty cap.
Smell is of bananas, clove, tart, tart wheat, with citrus.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with some crisp wheat, doughy yeast, and citrusy bananas standing out.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly tart and citrusy with light spice grazing the tongue.

Hazed yellow with a brown tint from the yeast. Diddn't get much head, but improper glassware will do that to ya. Nose is jam packed with clove. A good bit of banana and yeast as well. Taste is clove and banana again, but not as strong as the nose. Still quite tasty though. Medium body. Good carbonation and a good creaminess - super smooth. A very solid hefe.

Pours a very hazy golden with a tall, creamy white head with great retention. Yeasty aroma with a nice fruity, flowery quality as well. The grainy wheat malt palate features the perfect balance between a slightly sweet and fairly tart lemony citrus character and that classic earthy, yeasty banana character. A nice but very mild touch of clovey spice is present as well.

Very nice: true the style with all the right flavors perfectly balanced with one another. The bright maltiness, delicious wheat grain character, excellent yeastiness and slightly lighter than moderate-full body all make for one drinkable summer thirst quencher.

Highly recommended…

Thanks to jcwattsrugger for this 22 oz. bottle, poured into a weizen glass.

Pours clouded golden with a two-finger head that descends slightly and stays. Some lacing sticks.

The smell is of mild banana/clove - didn't knock me over, but it's there. There's a sugar sweetness with a floral hint. Slightly salty and bready. It has a soft, dryish finish.

Light-bodied with a spritz of carbonation.

Reminds me of an American pale wheat going towards a HW. It has something of a refreshing quality to it, despite the salty character (that I've noticed in other offerings from this brewery.)

22oz. bottle thanks to my mom

Pours a slighty hazy straw color with a creamy white head. Head mantains with dense lacing on the glass.

Aroma is very yeasty and bready with some nice banana and vanilla as well.

Taste is yeasty and bready upfront followed by hints of banana and vanilla. Taste is similar to the aroma, just not as pronounced.

Light body, plenty of carbonation.

An easy drinking hefe and respectable for the style. It's doing a fine job of quenching my thirst.

22oz bottle from bleedingshrimp as part of 120/190 BIF. Thanks for the opportunity.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1" off-white head above the cloudy burnished golden brew. Frothy head holds on strong, with foamy lace when it sticks. Aroma is wheat and citrus. Taste is the same, hearty wheat upfront with a spritx of lemon in the middle. Didn't even have to have the lemon on the glass, the flavor's already in there... Mouthfeel is good, maybe a little chalky on the close, and drinkability is good as well. Nice summertime choice.

Reviewed from notes.

Poured into a weizen glass. Color is a really cloudy yellow color with a nice white head. The nose rally brings out a lot of classic hefeweizen character with some nice banana, clove, and bubblegum. The taste isn't quite as yeast-forward and has a bit of wheat. Nice creamy light body on a beer that drinks quite well.

First had: on tap at Legend

Cloudy golden pour with a small white head. Light aroma of wheat and banana esters. Tame, standard version of the style, toasted grains, notes of banana and clove, bubblegum, tiny herbal hop notes, slightly metallic finish. Light body, thin, drinkability detracted by general flavorlessness. Nothing really memorable here.

Poured into a weizen glass.

A - Beautiful cascading tornado yeast effect spirals upward through the center of the glass, sccompanied by rising suds. Nice two tip head with excellent retention. Laced quite well.

S - Light aroma of banana and clove, with an unexpected blast of cinnamon!

T - High powered citrus smack, very lemony, cinnamon and banana both show through in the body as well as the scent. Spicy finish.

M - Light bodied, but a slightly high carbonation level caused a hit here. Nice lemony aftertaste.

D - Good American take on a hefeweizen. Tasty, refreshing, and pretty complex. Once again Legend impresses, if you see it, don't hesitate. Reco.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass

A: Poured a light golden orange color, good and cloudy. One fingers worth of soapy white head that settles to a nice ring. Good lacing from start to finish.

S: Banana and clove right up front, with a touch of orange peel.

T: Follows the smell... More banana than most hefs I've had of late... mid palette is very yeasty and spicy with a touch a citrus. Finish is smooth and mild..

M: Mouthfeel is pretty light, but the smoothness of the brew makes this a little on the creamy side.. Good mix.

D: Very drinkable brew.... Good ABV and taste would make this a pretty good session beer.
