Poured into a stein glass.
Forms about 1" of light tan head that dissipates quickly but leaves a surprising amount of lacing still.
Very dark brown appearance with slight orange hues around the edges when held directly to light. Can see active carbonation that slowly dies down as it settles.
Somewhat of a sweet smell, hints of caramel/toffee. Pleasant.
Slightly heavy mouthfeel with medium carbonation.
Roasted malts and caramel come through in the taste, leaving a slight aftertaste in the back of the mouth that doesn't detract from the flavor. For the ABV, it's hidden pretty well. Didn't detect any alchohol at all.
Overall a very good brew, but due to its heaviness, couldn't see having more than 2 or 3 at one sitting.

Surprising balanced and very drinkable. Very pleasant color and very nice thick head (from tap). Caramel, nutty, and sweet notes, hops is present, but not overwhelming like so many microbrews; low on the IBU scale. The beer was good enough for me to take the time to review it, which is saying something, as I have never reviewed a beer before (at least not publicly!)... Now back to drinking... I will definitely be having another one. :)
